The football championships came to a close in thrilling fashion over the weekend and last week as two remarkable games were required to separate Moycarkey-Borris and Durlas Óg in the Templemore Jewellers sponsored U16A final. A replay was required in the Ragg on Saturday after the teams drew the original fixture last Monday night in Templemore, with Moycarkey-Borris eventually emerging triumphant after two great contests. Elsewhere, Gortnahoe-Glengoole claimed the Tom Murphy & Sons Machinery Ltd. sponsored U16B crown with victory over Clonakenny in Templetuohy on Monday night. Congratulations to both Moycarkey and Gortnahoe on their Mid triumphs. Alas though, Gortnahoe-Glengoole were defeated by a solitary point in their county semi-final against Toomevara and so exit the championship.

Commiserations to the Mid U14 divisional panel who failed to deliver their potential in the Peadar Cummins tournament last Saturday, losing to the North in the semi-final and then the West in the shield final. The squad had prepared well in advance of the tournament and just simply did not get going on the day. Congratulations to the North on winning the tournament and to the West for taking the shield final.

A CCC meeting of Mid Coiste na nÓg will take place Wednesday May 28th in Hayes Hotel at 9pm to arrange the opening rounds in the U12 hurling championships which will throw in next week.

Best wishes to all students undertaking the state exams in the coming weeks and we look forward to seeing you back out on the playing fields once the exams are over.
