Tipperary Senior Hurlers
Hard luck to the Senior Hurlers who went down to Cork last Saturday evening in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Round 3 of the Allianz Hurling League with the home side winning 0-29 to 0-22. It was tit for tat throughout the opening quarter, with the sides level at 0-10 apiece after 24 minutes. Cork edged ahead late in the first half to take a 0-16 to 0-12 lead into the break. The Rebels stretched their advantage to six points midway through the second half, but Tipp battled back to cut the deficit to three with five minutes remaining. Cork, however, finished strongly to secure a seven point victory.

Last Saturday marked the seventieth league meeting between the sides, with Cork holding the edge on 35 victories to Tipperary’s 29 along with six draws.
The hurlers now have a break this coming weekend. They will be out in action again on Saturday 21st February at 5.30 pm in FBD Semple Stadium where they will take on Limerick.

Tipperary Senior Footballers
The footballers return to action this Sunday 15th February when they host Carlow in FBD Semple Stadium with a 2.00pm throw in. They will be aiming to build on a strong start to the campaign having collected three points from a possible four in their opening two games.
Looking back at the last five league meetings between the sides this will be the third consecutive year they have faced each other. Last year’s clash ended in a draw, 1-16 to 2-13 while Carlow claimed a two point victory the year before. Tipperary recorded a comfortable win over The Barrowsiders in 2022 and prior to that the teams last met in 2014 and 2013 with Tipp winning in 2014 and Carlow edging a one point victory in 2013. Overall the recent history between the sides is evenly balanced with two wins apiece and one draw.

Tickets For Allianz League Games
Supporters are reminded that tickets for all Allianz League games must be purchased online or in selected Centra and SuperValu stores, as tickets will not be on sale at match venues. Please note that Tap & Go will not be in operation at any venue, and in line with GAA policy for all competitions, no cash will be accepted at the turnstiles.
Minor Football
The Tipperary Minor footballers are competing in the Leinster Minor Football League and began their campaign last Saturday at Coolmore Morris Park with a 3-14 to 0-4 victory over Wicklow. The Tipperary scorers were as follows: Jack Walsh 1-3, Charlie Brazil 1-1, Rueben Grace 1-0, Eoin O Connell 0-2, Conor O Meara 0-2, Daniel Tobin 0-1, Colm O Shea 0-1, Ciaran Hennessy 0-1, Colin Maher 0-1, Adam O’ Callaghan 0-1, Joe O Donovan 0-1. Their next league game is against Wexford on the weekend of February 21st.

Hard luck to CBS High School Clonmel, who lost out to Tralee CBS last Saturday in the TUS Corn Uí Mhuirí Munster Senior ‘A’ Football Championship Final, with the Kerry side winning 2-19 to 1-13. The High School made a good start and led 0-3 to 0-2 after seven minutes, but they were held scoreless for the remainder of the half as Tralee built a 0-11 to 0-3 lead by half time. Tralee extended their advantage further with an early second half goal to move 1-14 to 0-4 ahead. CBS High School responded with a superb purple patch, scoring 1-7 without reply, the goal coming from Mikey McGuire, to cut the deficit to three points with ten minutes remaining. However, Tralee halted the Clonmel comeback with a second goal on 52 minutes to secure the title. Hard luck to CBS High School Clonmel, who put in a tremendous effort and can take great pride in reaching the final. Congratulations to Tralee CBS on their victory.

The Abbey Tipperary footballers face Mount Saint Michael Rosscarbery this Friday 13th February at 12.30 pm in the Páirc Uí Chaoimh All Weather Pitch in the Final of the TUS Corn Dhonncha Uí Nuanáin Under 19 ‘B’ Football Championship. The Abbey are no strangers to claiming Munster titles as they top the roll of honour for the ‘B’ Football Championship, claiming 9 titles in total – 1998, 98, 2005, 07, 08, 2011, 15, 22 and 23.
Colleges Action
The Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups have reached the business end, with strong Tipperary representation across both Finals.
The Fitzgibbon Cup Final takes place this Friday at 7.35pm and will be an all-Limerick clash, as Mary Immaculate College face the University of Limerick.
Mary I booked their place with a 0-31 to 2-16 extra time victory over DCU in the Semi Final. Adam Daly (Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams) contributed four points from play, while Eoin Craddock (Holycross Ballycahill) and Ben Currivan (Golden Kilfeacle) added two points apiece. Cashel King Cormac’s Cathal Quinn made an appearance from the bench, with Joe Caesar (Holycross Ballycahill) and Sean Leahy (St Mary’s) also members of the Mary I panel.
UL edged out the University of Galway by 0-18 to 1-13 in the second Semi Final. Toomevara’s Darragh McCarthy led the scoring with six points, all from frees, while Oisin O’Donoghue (Cashel King Cormacs) added a point. Conor Martin (Cappawhite) and Aaron Morgan (Kilruane MacDonaghs) lined out at corner-back, with JK Brackens’ Jamie Ormond making a substitute appearance. Max Hackett (Moycarkey Borris) and Stephen Ferncombe (Clonoulty Rossmore) complete the UL Tipperary contingent. For Galway, Nenagh Éire Óg’s Sam O’Farrell finished with five points.
Croke Park is also the venue for the Sigerson Cup Final which takes place this Wednesday February 11th with a 7.35pm throw in. UL are again involved, taking on University College Cork. Darragh O’Connor (Clonmel Commercials) is part of the UCC panel that claimed a 1-11 to 1-8 Semi Final win over the University of Galway.
UL, managed by David Power, advanced with a 3-23 to 2-21 extra time victory over Queen’s University Belfast. Micheál Freaney (Kilsheelan Kilcash) scored a point after coming on as a substitute, while Charlie King (Ballina) started at wing back. Daithí Hogan (St Patrick’s) and Killian Butler (Moyle Rovers) also featured from the bench. Jack O’Neill (Ardfinnan), James Morris (Clonmel Commercials) and Paddy O’Keeffe (Moyle Rovers) are also members of the UL panel.

Divisional Awards
The 2025 divisional awards have now been announced across Tipperary.
Mid Tipperary
The Mid Tipperary awards night was held at Revel, The Ragg, on 30th January. Senior Hurler of the Year was Brian McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney) with Luke Shanahan (Upperchurch Drombane) named Senior Footballer. Young Hurler was Euan Murray (Durlas Óg) and Young Footballer Dylan Cotter (Thurles Gaels). Peter Byrne (Clonakenny) was honoured with a Hall of Fame award, while Noel Joyce (JK Brackens) received a Special Presentation for his five All-Ireland Senior Scór titles. JK Brackens were named Senior Club of the Year, with Moyne Templetuohy taking Intermediate Club of the Year. The board also acknowledged the division’s All-Star and Hurler of the Year winners: Ronan Maher, Andrew Ormond, Rhys Shelly and John McGrath.
South Tipperary
The South Tipperary awards will take place at Cahir House Hotel on Friday 13th February. Theo English Hurler of the Past is Thomas Waters (Carrick Swan) and Michael O’Meara Footballer of the Past is Liam Myles (Ardfinnan). Senior Hurler winner is Aaron O’Halloran (Carrick Swan) and Senior Footballer Sean O’Connor (Clonmel Commercials). Intermediate Hurler is Barry Kehoe (Kilsheelan) with Joedy Sheehan (Fethard) named Intermediate Footballer. Junior A honours went to Ciaran Barrett (Clonmel Óg – Hurling) and Ben Carey (Ballylooby Castlegrace – Football), while Junior B awards were Jack Kelly (Carrick Swan – Hurling) and Jack Davey (Fethard – Football). Young Hurler and Footballer were Jack Cahill (Ballingarry) and Paddy O’Keeffe (Moyle Rovers). The South Board will also present an award to all players from the division who represented the county so well in winning All-Ireland Senior and U20 medals last year. Willie Fitzharris will receive the Noel Cosgrave Referee of the Year award in memory of the late Noel Cosgrave, and a Club Person of the Year award has been introduced for the first time, going to Pat O’Connor (Moyle Rovers).
North Tipperary
The North Tipperary awards will be presented on Friday 20th February at Kiladangan GAA Complex. Club of the Year for 2025 is Kiladangan. Senior Hurler went to Willie Connors (Kiladangan), Premier Intermediate Hurler Michael Breen (Ballina) and Intermediate Hurler Austin Tierney (Shannon Rovers). Junior A, B and C Hurler awards go to Johnny Horan (Kiladangan), Eddie Ryan (Silvermines) and Johnny Kenny (Ballina). U21 A and B Hurler winners are Paddy McCormack (Borris-Ileigh) and Cian Moyles (Kilruane MacDonaghs). U19 A Hurler is Tom Delaney (Borris-Ileigh), with Tadgh Whyte (Moneygall/Clonakenny) named U19 B Hurler and Footballer. Premier Junior Footballer was Gary Ryan (Borrisokane) and Junior Footballer Kevin Shinners (Kilruane MacDonaghs).

Munster Intermediate Hurling Club Champions Challenge
Newport GAA Club will host a new Munster Intermediate Hurling Club Champions Challenge during February, providing county intermediate champions with an opportunity to compete at provincial level. The competition is sponsored by Safety Direct, who have previously supported Newport GAA and will present the Safety Direct Trophy to the Munster champions each year. The tournament will consist of two Semi Finals and a Final, all played in Lacken Park, Newport. Semi Final A takes place on Saturday, February 14th at 2pm, with Murroe-Boher of Limerick facing An Rinn of Waterford. Semi Final B follows on Saturday, February 21st at 2pm, as Smith O’Brien’s Killaloe of Clare meet Knockavilla Kickhams of Tipperary. The Safety Direct Munster Final will be played on Saturday, February 28th, with the winners of both Semi Finals contesting the title.

Tipperary Supporters Club Night at the Dogs
The Tipperary Supporters Club will host a Night at the Dogs on Saturday February 21st at Thurles Greyhound Stadium, with the first of 10 races off at 7.30pm. Tickets are €20 for adults, with children free, and include a race card, free raffle and autograph signing by 2025 All-Ireland winning players. The night will feature a free raffle with prizes including a hotel break, cash and signed jerseys, along with sponsorship opportunities. 2026 Tipperary Club Season Pass

Congratulations to the eight Tipperary clubs approved to join the next phase of the Irish Life Healthy Club Initiative: Kilruane MacDonaghs, Carrick Swan, Silvermines, Emly, Upperchurch Drombane, Solohead, Portroe and Clonmel Commercials.
The clubs will begin their journey on 7th March when they attend their orientation day in Croke Park.
