Building Foundations for Long-Term Performance | In Partnership with Setanta Athletic Development
As part of Tipperary GAA’s ongoing commitment to holistic player development, a dedicated nutrition workshop was recently delivered to the U14 football and hurling academy squads. This initiative, supported by Setanta Athletic Development, marks the beginning of a structured, multi-year approach to equipping our young athletes with the knowledge and habits required to fuel performance, enhance recovery, and support long-term health.
Workshop Focus Areas:
The critical role of nutrition in athletic performance
Understanding macronutrients – carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats
The importance of micronutrients – including calcium, iron, and vitamin C
Introduction to energy balance and food label literacy, using the traffic light system to guide better choices
Tipperary GAA recognises that education off the pitch is just as important as training on it. This workshop lays a strong foundation for future development and reflects our commitment to supporting players not just as athletes, but as young people growing into their potential.
We look forward to building on this programme in the months and years ahead.
