Allianz Hurling and Football Leagues
Both our senior hurlers and footballers were in action last weekend, and there were mixed results for both. First into action in FBD Semple Stadium on Saturday evening were our footballers who played host to London. This was a game that many had expected would have been a comfortable task for Philly Ryan’s men, however Michael Maher and his charges had totally different ideas. Tipperary got off to a good start and appeared to be in control of the game, but the men in green came charging back into the game scoring two goals to put them in front at the break. London kept control of the game for the second half, as they appeared to be really enjoying the opportunity to show their wears in FBD Semple Stadium, In the end they scored what appeared to be a 2 pointscore although only signalled as a one pointer to win by 2-13 to 0-17.
Next up for our footballers is an away tie against Limerick this Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.
Scorers for Tipperary: S O’Connor (0-8, 1 two-point free, 5 frees); M Russell (0-3, 1 two-pointer); C Smith, M Barlow (1 two-pointer) (0-2 each); L Boland, M Freaney (0-1 each).

Our senior hurlers were also in action on Saturday evening in FBD Semple Stadium as they took on Cork in round 4 of the Allianz hurling league. In a game played in front of almost 12,000 people, Tipperary put in another very good performance to come out on top by 2-22 to 1-21. Tipperary now have 6 points out of a possible 8 and have pujtthemselves right in contention for a place in this year’s final.
The players have a weekend off from competitive action next weekend as they prepare for a trip to Nowlan Park to play Kilkenny on March 9th at 1.15pm.
Scorers for Tipperary: D McCarthy 0-10 (0-5 f), J Morris 1-1, J Forde, G O’Connor 0-3 each, D Walsh 1-0, R Maher (0-1 f), C Morgan, W Connors, A Tynan, O O’Donoghue 0-1 each.
