Senior Hurling
Congrats to Nenagh Éire Og on becoming North champions following their six point win over Burgess in the replayed North final at MacDonagh Park last Sunday. Played in front of over 2,000 patrons, Nenagh collected their ninth win in the grade bridging a gap of five years since last claiming the Frank McGrath Cup.
For Kevin Tucker it is his fifth medal in a fantastic career winning the 1993, 1998, 2001, 2009 and 2014 deciders. In fact it is Nenagh Eire Og’s sixth win in the last twenty five years having also claimed victory in 1992.
Last Sunday’s North final was the fourth North decider that ended goalless in the last twenty five years. There was no goals in the 1991 decider Toomevara 0-12 Nenagh Eire Og 0-12, 1993; Nenagh Éire Og 0-14 Moneygall 0-12; 1997, Borris-Ileigh 0-18 Nenagh Eire Og 0-16 and last Sunday. Nenagh Eire Og were involved in the four.
Well done to Burgess who contributed in making the final as one to remember perhaps not for its brilliance but for the overall product between the two games.
Denis Meats North Tipp Intermediate Hurling
The North final between Ballinahinch and Newport is planned for October 5th
Junior A Hurling
Nenagh Eire Og and Kildangan must plan for the forthcoming County Junior Hurling quarter finals.
Watch Centre North Tipp Junior B Hurling Championship
The Quarter finals of the Watch Centre Junior B Hurling championship will be played this weekend. Nenagh Éire Óg face Toomevara and Kildangan take on Newport.
Extra time will be used if necessary. Lorrha and Portroe are through to the semi finals.
Walsh’s of Nenagh Under-21 A Hurling
The opening game in the Walsh’s of Nenagh North Tipperary U-21 A Hurling championship between Toomevara and Roscrea failed to materialise last week.
Walsh’s of Nenagh Under-21 B Hurling
Borris-Ileigh easily defeated Shannon Rovers Gaels in the only game played last weekend. The second game planned, Portroe v Templederry was not played.
Minor A Hurling
Commiserations to Newport Gaels minor hurling team who made a brave bid for county honours but were narrowly beaten by Moyle Rovers in the Clean Ireland Recycling Minor a Hurling final at Semple Stadium last Sunday evening.
Minor B Hurling
It was a more successful journey for Kildangan who won the Clean Ireland Recycling Minor B hurling final against Loughmore-Castleiney. The Minor B final was played as a curtain raiser to the A final at Semple Stadium last Sunday evening.
