West Tipperary GAA Scene – October 25th 2016

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The 24th Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B Hurling Final on Saturday last in Golden saw Cashel King Cormacs overcome the challenge of Arravale Rovers and take a fifth title in the grade and a first since 2008. Match Report and Photos

Cashel King Cormacs will play Upperchurch/Drombane in this year’s Tipperary Water County Junior B Hurling semi-final. The game has been fixed for this Saturday October 29th at 2.30pm in Clonoulty.

Cashel King Cormacs will be looking to reach the county final for the first time since 2008. Cashel’s last appearance in a county semi-final saw them defeat Ballina in the Ragg on 25/10/08 on a score-line of 1-12 to 0-11. They will be looking to become the third West team in a row to qualify for the County final following Rosegreen (2014) and Eire Og Annacarty Donohill (2015).

West U21 Hurling Championships:
The O’Dwyer Steel West U21A and Ollies Bar West U21B hurling championships continued last weekend with the final first round games. Round-up

In the O’Dwyer Steel West U21A Hurling championship Clonoulty/Rossmore had a comfortable victory over Galtee/Emly. Following that game the semi-final pairings are now known and will take place on Sunday November 6th.
Defending champions Cappawhite/Sean Treacys will take on Clonoulty/Rossmore in what is a repeat of last year’s decider. This game is fixed for Dundrum at 12 noon. In the other semi-final Golden/Kilfeacle will take on Galtee/Emly in Sean Treacy Park at 12 noon.

Cashel King Cormacs and Knockavilla Gaels are through to the semi-final of the Ollies Bar West U21B Hurling championship following victories over Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Lattin/Cullen Gaels at the weekend.
Eire Og Annacarty Donohill will now play Rockwell/Rosegreen this Sunday October 30th at 12 noon in Clonoulty. The winners will qualify for the semi-finals while the losers will play Lattin/Cullen Gaels on November 6th for the remaining semi-final spot.

The County semi-finals of the Tipperary Water U21A and B Hurling championships are planned for weekend of November 20th.

O’Donoghue Cup:
The final of this year’s Michael Devlin Solicitors O’Donoghue Cup will now take place on Friday November 4th at 8pm in Cappawhite as Galtee Rovers take on Arravale Rovers.

County Senior Football Championship:
West interest in this years Tipperary Water County Senior Football championship ended on Wednesday evening last October 19th as Aherlow Gaels were defeated Moyle Rovers in Ballyporeen. The Nationalist Match Report / the42.ie Match Report

County Intermediate Football Championship:
Commiserations to Golden/Kilfeacle who were defeated by Fethard in the Tipperary Water County Intermediate Football Final in Cashel on Sunday last. Match Report

County Junior A Football Championship:
Clonoulty/Rossmore booked their place in this year’s Tipperary Water County Junior A Football championship semi-final when they defeated Mid champions Gortnahoe/Glengoole in Dr. Morris Park on Wednesday night last.
They will now face South champions Ballingarry this Saturday October 29th at 2.30pm in Holycross for a place in this year’s County final. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. Ballingarry had five points to spare over Portroe in their quarter final on Saturday last.

There was no such joy for West champions Sean Treacys who went down to Loughmore/Castleiney in their quarter final by the minimum on Saturday last.

County Junior B Football Championship:
West champions Arravale Rovers will play Boherlahan Dualla in the semi-final of the Tipperary Water County Junior B Football championship this Saturday at 2.30pm in Dundrum. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw.
Arravale Rovers will be playing in their second County semi-final in the grade and will be looking to reach a first decider. In their last appearance in 2008 they were defeated by Templederry in Boherlahan on a score-line of 1-8 to 1-5.

County Intermediate Hurling Relegation:
The County Intermediate hurling relegation will continue on Saturday week November 5th when Arravale Rovers take on Rockwell Rovers at 2.30pm in Golden.

Referee:
Congratulations to West referee John O’Brien (Arravale Rovers) who took charge of the County Intermediate Hurling final between Newport and Thurles Sarsfields on Sunday last in Dundrum. Congratulations to David Grogan (Aherlow) who will take charge of this year’s County Senior Football Final between Loughmore/Castleiney and Moyle Rovers this Sunday October 30th in Cashel at 2.30pm.
