West Tipperary GAA Scene – November 1st 2016

West U21 Hurling Championships:
Eire Og Annacarty Donohill qualified for the Ollies Bar West U21B hurling championships semi-finals last weekend with victory over Rockwell/Rosegreen. Match Report

The result puts Eire Og into the semi-finals along with Knockavilla Gaels and Cashel King Cormacs. The final semi-final place will be decided this Sunday as 2015 champions Lattin/Cullen Gaels take on Rockwell Rosegreen in Bansha at 12 Noon. Extra time will be played in the event of a draw.

The semi-finals of this year’s O’Dwyer Steel West U21A Hurling championship will take place on this Sunday November 6th. Defending champions Cappawhite/Sean Treacys will take on Clonoulty/Rossmore in what is a repeat of last year’s decider. This game is fixed for Dundrum at 12 noon. This will be Cappawhite/Treacys first game in the defence of their title having received a walkover in round 1. Clonoulty/Rossmore enjoyed a comfortable victory over Galtee/Emly in round 1.

In the other semi-final Golden/Kilfeacle will take on Galtee/Emly in Sean Treacy Park at 12 noon. Golden/Kilfeacle saw off the challenge of Arravale Rovers in the preliminary round. The latter then withdrew from the tournament meaning Galtee/Emly took the last semi-final spot.

The County semi-finals of the Tipperary Water U21A and B Hurling championships are planned for weekend of November 20th.

O’Donoghue Cup:
The final of this year’s Michael Devlin Solicitors O’Donoghue Cup will now take place on Friday November 4th at 8pm in Cappawhite as Galtee Rovers take on Arravale Rovers. Galtee Rovers qualified for the final after a replay victory over Rockwell Rovers in the semi-finals. Arravale Rovers defeated Golden/Kilfeacle in their semi-final to book their place in the decider.

County Junior A Football Championship:
Clonoulty/Rossmore booked their place in this year’s Tipperary Water County Junior A Football championship final when they defeated South champions Ballingarry in Holycross on Saturday last. They will now meet Loughmore/Castleiney in this decider which will take place in Holycross on Saturday November 12th at 2pm.

As this is Loughmore/Castleiney’s second team, Clonoulty/Rossmore will represent Tipperary in the Munster Junior Football championship. They will be away to Gabriel Rangers of Cork or Meelick of Clare in the Munster semi-final on weekend of 20th November.

County Junior B Hurling Championship:
Commiserations to Cashel King Cormacs who were defeated by Upperchurch/Drombane in this year’s Tipperary Water County Junior B Hurling semi-final on Saturday last in Clonoulty.

County Junior B Football Championship:
West champions Arravale Rovers are through to a first ever Tipperary Water County Junior B Football Final following victory over Boherlahan Dualla in the semi-final Saturday last in Golden. Match Report
Arravale Rovers will now face the South champions in this year’s County final on Saturday November 19th at 2pm in Cahir.

County Intermediate Hurling Relegation:
The County Intermediate hurling relegation will continue this Saturday November 5th when Arravale Rovers take on Rockwell Rovers at 2.30pm in Golden. Having lost their opening game in the relegation series to Golden/Kilfeacle, Rockwell Rovers must get a result here to have any chance of staying up. Victory for Arravale Rovers will see them safe and Rockwell Rovers relegated to Intermediate for 2017. Victory for Rockwell Rovers or a draw will see the final game between Golden/Kilfeacle and Arravale Rovers which is scheduled for November 12th decided who is relegated. A draw in Saturday’s game will guarantee Golden/Kilfeacle Intermediate status for 2017.

Retirement:
Best of luck to Conor O’Brien on his intercounty retirement last week. Conor gave us so many good days in the blue and gold. We look forward to seeing him for many more campaigns with his club Eire Og Annacarty Donohill.
