West Tipperary GAA Scene – May 3rd 2016

Minor Football Championship:
The Minor A and B Football championships are now down to the final stage.
In the Tipperary Print & Design West Minor A Football championship Arravale Rovers had five points to spare against Clonoulty/Rossmore in Annacarty on Thursday night last. Match Report

Cappawhite Gaels and Cashel King Cormacs will meet in the final of this year’s Bridge House Golden West Minor B Football final. Cappawhite Gaels had a narrow one point victory over Rockwell/Rosegreen in Dundrum on Wednesday night last. Match Report

In the other semi-final Cashel King Cormacs had a comfortable victory over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Clonoulty also on Wednesday night. The dates for both finals will be fixed on Tuesday May 3rd at the CCC meeting.

West Minor Hurling Championship:
There will be no Minor Hurling fixtures this week but the 1st round will be played on Wednesday May 11th for teams not involved in the minor football finals.

West Junior B Hurling League:
The Maria Marron Palmers Hill Stud West Junior B Hurling league continued last week. In Group 1 Solohead went down to their first defeat when they were defeated by Cappawhite by three points. In the other game Rosegreen had a comfortable victory over Clonoulty/Rossmore. This Tuesday night in Group 1 Cappawhite host Rosegreen while Clonoulty/Rossmore host Sean Treacys. The final round of group 1 games will played on Tuesday May 10th.

In Group 2 Emly made it two wins from two when they defeated Cashel King Cormacs in Emly on Friday night last. While on Tuesday night last Golden/Kilfeacle got the better of Arravale Rovers in S T Park.
On Tuesday night in Group 2 Arravale Rovers host Emly while Golden/Kilfeacle host Cashel King Cormacs.
All games throw in at 7.30pm. The semi-finals of the competition will be played on Tuesday May 17th.

County Senior Hurling Championship:
The group stage of the County Senior Hurling Championship conclude this weekend with all three West teams in action.

On Saturday in Group 2 of Roinn I, Eire Og Annacarty Donohill take on Thurles Sarsfields in Dundrum with a 7pm throw in. Eire Og must get a result from this game to have a chance of making it out of the group.

On Sunday May 8th in Group 4 of Roinn I, Clonoulty/Rossmore take on Portroe in Dolla at 3.30pm. A draw or a win will guarantee them top spot in the group.

In Group 3 of Roinn 2 this Sunday Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams take on Loughmore/Castleiney in Boherlahan at 3.30pm. Kickhams must win to have a chance of avoiding finishing bottom of their group and going into the relegation.

County Senior Football Championship:
The County Senior Football championship continued last weekend.

In Group 1 Arravale Rovers got their first victory in this year’s championship when they defeated Upperchurch/Drombane on Friday night in S T Park. Arravale Rovers are now second in the group level on three points with Kilsheelan/Kilcash but with a lesser score difference. Cahir are in third on two points. Arravale Rovers play Cahir in the last round while Kilsheelan/Kilcash play Upperchurch/Drombane.

In Group 3 on Saturday night in Sean Treacy Park Galtee Rovers got their first win of the year when they defeated Eire Og Annacarty Donohill.

Galtee Rovers, Eire Og and Loughmore/C are all tied on two points each with the latter having played a game less. Thomas McDonaghs prop up the group. Eire Og play Loughmore/C and Galtee Rovers play Thomas McDonaghs in the last round of games.

Also on Saturday evening in Group 4 Aherlow Gaels went down to their first defeat when they were beaten by Drom/Inch in Dundrum. Aherlow Gaels are second in the group with a game to play level on points with Moyle Rovers but ahead on the head to head between both sides. Both are two points behind Drom/Inch. Aherlow Gaels play Ardfinnan and Moyle Rovers play Drom/Inch in the last round of games.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The group stages of this years West Intermediate Hurling championship continue this weekend.

In Group 1 on Saturday evening May 7th Arravale Rovers will be looking for their first win when they take on Boherlahan in Golden. In the same group Sean Treacys and Moyle Rovers who were both victorious in round 1 meet in Cashel. Both games throw in at 7pm.

This Sunday May 8th in Group 2 Cappawhite meet St Marys in Cashel at 3pm. Both sides enjoyed first round victories. Also in this group on Sunday in Drombane at 1pm Rockwell Rovers will be looking for their first victory when they take on Roscrea.

In Group 3 on Saturday evening Lattin/Cullen Gaels play their first game in this year’s championship when they take on Moycarkey/Borris in New Inn at 7pm. This is a group of three and a win will guarantee Lattin/Cullen Gaels and Galtee Rovers through to the knockout stages.

On Sunday evening at 7pm in Clonoulty in Group 6 Golden/Kilfeacle take on Drom/Inch looking for their first victory having been defeated by Kilsheelan/Kilcash in round 1.

County U21A Football Championship:
Commiserations to Arravale Rovers who were defeated by Drom/Inch in the County U21A Football semi-final in Dundrum yesterday on a score-line of 3-5 to 0-10. Drom/Inch now play Clonmel Commercials in this year’s decider.

Munster Minor Hurling Championship:
Best of luck to our West representatives and to the Tipperary Minor Hurling team and management who take on Clare in the Munster Minor Hurling championship in Cusack Park, Ennis this Wednesday May 4th at 7pm.

Referees:
Congratulations to Fergal Horgan (Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams) who made the Hurling Championship panel of 12 referees for this year’s championship. Congratulations to John O’Brien (Arravale Rovers) who made the Linesman panel which is a newly created panel, and in hurling this panel will also be appointed to referee games in the Christy Ring Cup.
