Minor Football Championship:
The Minor A and B Football championships finals will take place this Sunday May 15th in Dundrum as a double header.

Proceedings get under way at 1.30pm as Cappawhite Gaels and Cashel King Cormacs meet in the Bridge House Golden West Minor B Football final. In the Tipperary Print & Design West Minor A Football championship reigning champions Galtee/Golden will take on Arravale Rovers at 3pm.

The 32nd final of the Bridge House Golden West Minor B Football championship brings together the two unbeaten teams in this year’s competition and a first final meeting between the sides.

Cashel King Cormacs will be playing in their second final in the grade having won their only final appearance in 2008. Cappawhite Gaels will be playing in their first final. Cappawhite won the competition on four previous occasions and last won the competition in 2003. Solohead won the competition on two previous occasions, 1986 and 1996, the 1986 title when joined with Eire Og.

Cashel King Cormacs accounted for Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Rockwell/Rosegreen in the group phase before they had a comfortable victory over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in the semi-final. Cappawhite Gaels defeated Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Aherlow Gaels in the group stages before a hard fought victory over Rockwell/Rosegreen in this year’s semi-final.

In the Tipperary Print & Design West Minor A Football final Galtee/Golden will be looking for their fifth title in the grade and their second in a row after they defeated the combination of Arravale/Eire Og in last years decider. It will be the 70th running of the final a first final between the sides. Arravale Rovers have won the title on 27 previous occasions and will be looking to win the competition for the first time since 2013 when they defeated the combination of Eire Og/Galtee Rovers in the final.

Galtee/Golden go into the final unbeaten having accounted for Emly/Treacys, Arravale Rovers and Clonoulty/Rossmore in the group stages to qualify directly for the final. Arravale Rovers defeated Clonoulty/Rossmore, drew with Emly/Treacys and were defeated by their final opponents Galtee/Golden in the group stages. They defeated Clonoulty/Rossmore in the West semi-final two weeks ago to set up a rematch against Galtee/Golden.

Extra-time will be played in both games in the event of a draw.

West Minor Hurling Championship:
The Joe Hayes Clean line West Minor Hurling A Hurling championship gets underway this Wednesday night May 11th. In Group 1 Emly/Treacys take on Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Dundrum. In Group 2 Clonoulty/Rossmore take on Lattin/Cullen Gaels in Clonoulty. Both games throw in at 7.30pm.

West Junior B Hurling League:
The Maria Marron Palmers Hill Stud West Junior B Hurling league continued last week. In Group 1 Cappawhite had a comfortable victory over Rosegreen. This win puts Cappawhite through to the semi-finals as group winners. This Tuesday night Rosegreen host Solohead while Sean Treacys host Cappawhite. Both games throw in at 7.30pm. A win for Solohead will guarantee them a semi-final spot while a win for Rosegreen will see them leap frog Solohead and put themselves in contention for the semi-final spot.

In Group 2 Emly made it three wins from three when they defeated Arravale Rovers in S T Park on Tuesday night last. While on Friday night Golden/Kilfeacle had three points to spare over Cashel King Cormacs. The results mean Emly finish top of the group and Golden/Kilfeacle finish second.

The semi-finals of the competition will be played on Tuesday May 17th.

West Senior Hurling Championship:
Round 1 of this year’s Tipperary Co-Op West Senior Hurling Championship has been pencilled in for Saturday June 18th. Clonoulty/Rossmore will take on last year’s finalists Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Golden at 7.30pm. The winners will play a week later against West Champions Eire Og Annacarty Donohill. The final game at a date to be confirmed will see Eire Og play the losers of the round 1 game. This year’s competition will be run on a round-robin basis with the top two teams qualifying for the decider.

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The quarter finals of the West Intermediate Hurling championship will take place on the weekend of June 25th/26th.

West Intermediate Football Championship:
The 1st round of this year’s West Intermediate Football championship will take place on Wednesday June 1st when Rockwell/Rovers meet Golden/Kilfeacle in Bansha.

West Junior Hurling Championships:
The West Junior A and B hurling championships will commence on the weekend of May 20th/21st. More details next week.

Crosco Cup:
This years Crosco cup gets under way this Saturday May 14th as Sean Treacys and Clonoulty/Rossmore meet in the quarter final. The game goes ahead in Clonoulty with a 7.30pm throw in. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. The semi-finals have been fixed for Wednesday May 25th Golden/Kilfeacle will play the winners of the quarter final in Golden while in Sean Treacy Park Arravale Rovers will meet Cappawhite.

County U21B Football Championship:
Best of luck to Golden/Kilfeacle who take on Cahir in the County U21B Football championship final on Friday night May 20th in New Inn at 7pm. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. Golden/Kilfeacle will be looking for their 3rd County title in the grade to add to their titles of 1995 and 2007. They are unbeaten in their 5 games to date in this year’s West and County championships.

County Senior Hurling Championship:
The group stage of the County Senior Hurling Championship concluded last weekend for the West teams.
On Saturday in Group 2 of Roinn I, Eire Og Annacarty Donohill were defeated by Thurles Sarsfields in Dundrum. Eire Og finish 3rd in the group and must now win their division to advance in the County championship.

On Sunday, Clonoulty/Rossmore made it three wins from three in Dolla when they defeated Portroe. The result puts Clonoulty/Rossmore into this year’s County quarter finals.

In Group 3 of Roinn 2, Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams were defeated by Loughmore/Castleiney in Boherlahan. The result means Kickhams finish bottom of their group and join Moneygall, Silvermines and Moyne/Templetuohy in the relegation series. Two of these four teams will be relegated. Kickhams can avoid being involved in relegation should they win this year’s West championship.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The group stages of this year’s County Intermediate Hurling championship continued last weekend.

In Group 1 on Saturday evening May 7th Sean Treacys made it two wins from two and put themselves in pole position to qualify for the quarter finals of the competition. Arravale Rovers went down to their second defeat when they lost to Boherlahan. Sean Treacys top the group on four points with Moyle Rovers second and Boherlahan 3rd both on two points. Arravale Rovers prop up the group.

In Group 2 Cappawhite suffered their first defeat when they went down to St Mary’s in Cashel. Rockwell Rovers are still looking for their first win after going down to Roscrea in Drombane. St Mary’s top the group on four points with Cappawhite 2nd and Roscrea 3rd both on two points. Rockwell Rovers prop up the group.

In Group 3 on Saturday Lattin/Cullen Gaels shared the spoils with Moycarkey/Borris in New Inn. Galtee Rovers top the group on two points with Lattin/Cullen Gaels 2nd and Moycarkey/Borris 3rd both on a point each but the latter has played their two group games.

On Sunday evening at 7pm in Group 6 Golden/Kilfeacle got their first victory in this year’s championship when they defeated Drom/Inch in Clonoulty. Kilsheelan/Kilcash top the group on four points with Golden/Kilfeacle 2nd on two points. Newport are 3rd and Drom & Inch 4th both on a point each.

Celtic Challenge:
South Tipperary defeated Carlow by 3-11 to 0-12 in the first round of the Celtic Challenge Under 17 Hurling competition on Wednesday last May 4th in Fenagh, County Carlow. This is a combination of both the West and the South divisions of which there are 20 West representatives. Match Report

Munster Minor Hurling Championship:
Congratulations of luck to our West representatives and to the Tipperary Minor Hurling team and management who defeated Clare in the Munster Minor Hurling championship on Wednesday last in Ennis. They will now play Cork in the Munster semi-final.

Schools:
Congratulations to St. John the Baptist Hospital who defeated Rochestown 3-11 to 0-10 to complete a Munster U15 Hurling and Football double on Wednesday last. Congratulations to the Abbey CBS who qualified for the Westcourt Cup final after victory over Roscrea. They will now play Rice College Ennis in the final.
