West Tipperary GAA Scene – June 7th 2016

West Senior Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op West Senior Hurling championship game between Clonoulty/Rossmore and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams will now take place on Sunday June 26th in Annacarty.

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
Two of this year’s West Intermediate Hurling quarter finals have been re-fixed following last week’s postponements. Golden/Kilfeacle will take on Cappawhite on Saturday June 18th in Dundrum at 7.30pm. On Tuesday June 21st Cashel King Cormacs take on Rockwell Rovers in Golden with a 7.30pm throw in. There is a provision for extra-time in both games.

West Junior A Hurling Championships:
The remaining round 1 game between Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams took place on Friday night last in Annacarty with Kickhams coming out on top.

Kickhams and Emly are now joint top with two points each after one game.

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B hurling championship continued on Tuesday night last.
In Group 1 Solohead made it two wins out of two when they defeated Cashel King Cormacs in Cashel.

The action continues in Group 1 this Saturday evening with two games down for decision.
Solohead will be looking for three wins when they take on Golden/Kilfeacle who lost their opening round game. This game takes place in Sean Treacy Park with a 7.30pm throw in. In Golden, Cashel King Cormacs will be looking to bounce back from last Tuesday’s defeat when they take on Clonoulty/Rossmore who are looking for their first win in their second outing.

West Junior B Hurling League:
The first of year’s Maria Marron, Palmers Hill Stud West Junior B Hurling League semi-finals took place last weekend. Last year’s champions Emly advancing to the final after a six point victory over Solohead. The second semi-final between Cappawhite and Golden/Kilfeacle will now take place on Wednesday June 15th in Dundrum at 7.30pm.

West Junior A Football Championship:
The AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship got under way last weekend where in Group 2 Cappawhite got the better of Sean Treacys. Match Report
Group 1 gets under way this Tuesday evening June 7th when last year’s West and County finalists Emly take on Clonoulty/Rossmore in Sean Treacy Park at 7.30pm.

On Sunday June 12th in Group 2 Cappawhite take on Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Annacarty at 12 Noon. A win for Cappawhite will guarantee them top spot in the group while a draw will also guarantee them a semi-final spot. Kickhams will be playing their first game in this year’s championship.

West Junior B Football Championship:
The Rea Clarke Hennessy West Junior B Football championship will commence this Wednesday night June 8th with three games down for decision. In Group 1 last year’s champions Galtee Rovers get the defence of their title underway when they take on Golden/Kilfeacle in New Inn at 7.30pm. In Dundrum also at 7.30pm, 2014 Champions Eire Og Annacarty Donohill take on Clonoulty/Rossmore. In Group 2 in Cappawhite, Solohead take on Arravale Rovers at 7.30pm. The remaining group 2 game between Rockwell Rovers and Aherlow Gaels will take place in Bansha on Saturday June 11th with a 7.30pm throw in.

Celtic Challenge:
South Tipperary played two games last week. On Wednesday night last in Cahir they overcame a large first half deficit to defeat South Kilkenny. Match Report
On Saturday they travelled to Portlaoise for the preliminary round of the competition where they defeated Kildare. Match Report
South Tipperary’s next game will be a semi-final on Saturday 11th June with the opposition and a venue to be announced
