West Tipperary GAA Scene – June 21st 2016

West Senior Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op West Senior Hurling championship commences this Sunday June 26th with neighbours Clonoulty/Rossmore and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams meeting in Annacarty. The game has a 7.30pm throw in.

It is a repeat of last year’s semi-final in which Kickhams came out on top 3-12 to 1-10. It will be the 8th meeting of the sides since the turn of the decade. Clonoulty have four wins to Kickhams one and there has been two draws in this period. Clonoulty/Rossmore go into the game unbeaten having won their three Roinn I games against Kilruane McDonaghs, Lorrha/Dorrha and Portroe. Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams though go into the game on the back of two defeats in Roinn II against Borrisokane and Loughmore/Castleiney. This year’s competition will be run on a round robin basis with the top two teams playing in this year’s decider. For both Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams they must win the West championship in order to re-enter the race for Dan Breen.

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Credit Union West Intermediate Hurling quarter final between Cappawhite and Golden/Kilfeacle fixed for last weekend was postponed and will be re-fixed at a later date.

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B hurling championship resumes this weekend with the penultimate round of games in Group 1. On Friday night in Sean Treacy Park, Cappawhite take on Cashel King Cormacs. This will be Cashel’s last game of the group and a win will guarantee them second spot in the group. A win for Cappawhite will put them level on points with Cashel with a game to play. The following night Clonoulty/Rossmore and Golden/Kilfeacle meet in Cashel. Both sides will be looking for their first win in this year’s competition. Both games throw in at 7.30pm.

West Junior B Hurling League:
The final of this year’s Maria Marron Palmers Hill Stud West Junior B Hurling League will take place this Sunday as a curtain raiser to the Senior Hurling Championship game. 2015 champions Emly will take on Cappawhite who defeated Golden/Kilfeacle on Wednesday night last. Both sides go into the final unbeaten and finished top of their respective groups. The game has a 5.30pm throw in.

West Junior A Football Championship:
The AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship continues this Friday night June 24th when Emly and Rosegreen meet in Bansha at 7.30pm. This will be Emly’s second and last group game and a win will guarantee them top spot in the group while a draw will also secure a semi-final spot. Rosegreen will be playing their first game of this year’s championship.

West Junior B Football Championship:
The Rea Clarke Hennessy West Junior B Football championship continued on Wednesday last. In Group 2 Rockwell Rovers had three points to spare over Aherlow Gaels in Lattin. Match Report

This Saturday night, Group 1 gets underway as 2015 champions Galtee Rovers take on 2014 champions Eire Og Annacarty Donohill. The game has a 7.30pm in Sean Treacy Park.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
There is one West team in action in the County Intermediate Hurling championship this Saturday June 25th as Sean Treacys take on Boherlahan Dualla in Dundrum at 6.30pm. A win or a draw for Sean Treacy’s will guarantee them top spot in the group and a place in the County quarter finals. The remaining West teams will be in action on July 9th.
