West Tipperary GAA Scene – June 14th 2016

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The first of this year’s Tipperary Credit West Intermediate Hurling championship quarter finals takes place this Saturday evening in Bansha. Cappawhite take on Golden/Kilfeacle with a 7.30pm throw in.
Both sides have had mixed results so far in this year’s County championship. Cappawhite defeated Roscrea in round 1 but went down to St Marys while Golden/Kilfeacle lost their opening round game to Kilsheelan/Kilcash but defeated Drom/Inch in round 2.

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B hurling championship continued on Saturday last as Solohead made it three wins from three in this year’s competition with a comfortable victory over Golden/Kilfeacle. Solohead have now qualified for the knockout stages of this year’s competition. Match Report
In the other game in the group Cashel King Cormacs received a walkover from Clonoulty/Rossmore.

West Junior B Hurling League:
The second of this year’s Maria Marron Palmers Hill Stud West Junior B Hurling League semi-final’s between Cappawhite and Golden/Kilfeacle takes place this Wednesday June 15th in Dundrum at 7.30pm. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. The winners will play Emly in this year’s decider.

West Junior A Football Championship:
The AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship continued on Tuesday last with Emly coming out on top in their Group 1 clash with Clonoulty/Rossmore in Sean Treacy Park. Match Report
The Group 2 game between Cappawhite and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams fixed for Sunday last was postponed due to a bereavement.

West Junior B Football Championship:
The Rea Clarke Hennessy West Junior B Football championship commenced on Wednesday last. In Group 2 Arravale Rovers had a comfortable victory over Solohead. This Wednesday evening June 15th in Lattin, Aherlow Gaels and Rockwell Rovers get their campaigns under way when they meet at 8pm.

Celtic Challenge:
Commiserations to South Tipperary, who’s participation in the inaugural Celtic Challenge u17 hurling competition concluded in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick on Saturday 11th June where they came out second best against Kerry in the Division 2 (Corn John Scott) semi-final. Match Report

County Senior Football and Intermediate Hurling Championships:
Due to the success of the county senior football team on Sunday, all round 3 of the county senior football championship which was due to take place on Wednesday 22nd of June have been called off and will be re fixed at a later date.

All round 3 of the county intermediate hurling championship fixed for the 25th/26th of June have also been called off with the exception of:
– St Marys v Roscrea which is fixed for the 25th June in Holycross at 7.30pm
– Thurles Sarsfields v Carrick Davins is fixed for the 25th June in Golden at 7.30. (Note change of day and time)
– Sean Treacys v Boherlahan Dualla is fixed for the 26th June in Dundrum at 3.30pm.
