West Tipperary GAA Scene – August 16th 2016

West Junior A Football Championship:
The first of this year’s semi-finals in the AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship took place on Saturday evening.

In Cashel, Clonoulty/Rossmore advanced to this year’s final following a comfortable victory over Cappawhite. Clonoulty/Rossmore qualifying for their first decider since 2000. Match Report

The second semi-final will take place this Thursday evening at 6.30pm in Sean Treacy Park where Emly take on Sean Treacys. Emly are unbeaten following victories over Clonoulty/Rossmore and Rosegreen while Sean Treacys defeated Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams following an open round defeat to Cappawhite. Emly were beaten West and County finalists in 2015 while Sean Treacys will be looking to make their second final in three years.

West Junior A Hurling Championship:
The semi-final of this year’s Gleeson Concrete West Junior A Hurling Championship will take place this Saturday August 20th in Golden at 6pm. It is a repeat of the 2014 and 2015 finals as Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams put their title on the line when they take on neighbours Clonoulty/Rossmore. Emly await the winners in this year’s final. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw.

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The semi-finals of this year’s Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B Hurling championship will take place on Friday and Saturday night this weekend.

On Friday evening, Group 2 winners Galtee Rovers take on Cashel King Cormacs in New Inn at 6.30pm. Galtee Rovers finished top with two victories from three games and level on points with Arravale Rovers and Sean Treacys but had a better score-difference than the two.
Cashel King Cormacs finished second in Group 1 after winning three of their four group games. They accounted for Sean Treacys in this year’s quarter final to advance to a semi-final against Galtee Rovers.

The following night in Cappawhite at 6.30pm Group 1 winners Solohead take on Arravale Rovers in a repeat of the 2011 semi-final which the Tipperary Town side won.
Solohead go into the semi-final unbeaten winning their four group games. Arravale Rovers finished second in Group 2 winning two of their three group games. They defeated Cappawhite in the quarter finals to set up a semi-final v Solohead.

Extra-time is available in both games if necessary.

West Minor A Hurling Championship:
The Joe Hayes Cleanline West Minor A Hurling championship takes centre stage this Wednesday night August 17th.
In Annacarty, Group 2 winners Cappawhite Gaels take on Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams. In Cappawhite, Group 1 winners Emly/Treacys take on Clonoulty/Rossmore in what is a repeat of last year’s final. Both games on at 6pm.

O’Donoghue Cup:
The replay of this Michael Devlin Solicitors O’Donoghue Cup semi-final between Galtee Rovers and Rockwell Rovers took place on Friday last in Bansha. Galtee Rovers proved to have too much for their opponents and advanced to a final meeting with Arravale Rovers. Link to match report https://goo.gl/Xb3BqH

County Adult Football League:
Commiserations to Arravale Rovers who were defeated by Clonmel Commercials in the final of the Premier Division of the County Adult Football League last Wednesday night in Cahir.

Tipperary Senior and Minor Hurlers:
Congratulations to the Tipperary Senior and Minor Hurlers who qualified for their respective All Ireland finals with victories over Galway on Sunday last in Croke Park.

Tipperary Senior Footballers:
Best of luck to the Tipperary Senior Footballers this Sunday August 21st in Croke Park in their All Ireland semi-final v Mayo.
