Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes – 5th January 2015

TESCO HOMEGROWN NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football are looking forward to the 2015 Tesco Homegrown National Football League. The fixtures have been announced with Tipperary in Division 3 alongside Fermanagh, Leitrim, Longford, Roscommon, Sligo, Waterford and Wexford. Tipperary will play three of their seven games at a home venue. The competition will commence with an away game on February 1st against Fermanagh. The Semi Final is fixed for the 26th April with the Final on May 9th. February 1st v Fermanagh (A); February 8th v Leitrim (H); February 22nd v Roscommon (A); March 1st v Waterford (H), March 15th v Wexford (H); March 29th v Sligo (A); April 12th v Longford (A).

IRISH TV
Tipperary Ladies Football All Ireland Minor and U16 winning teams for 2014 recorded a programme with Irish TV in Moycarkey Sports Complex, Littleton. The teams and their management had a fantastic night demonstrating their skills and playing a trial football match. Interviews were recorded with the management teams and representatives from each team. This programme was televised over the Christmas period but for anyone that might have missed it you can check it out on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie.

CLIMB4CLARE
Tipperary Ladies Football Association would like to thank all who climbed Slievenamon on St. Stephen’s Day as a part of their fundraiser for CLIMB4CLARE. CLIMB4CLARE is a fundraising campaign organised by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association to raise much needed funding to ensure the provision and roll out of the CLIMB® Support Programme in Cancer Care Centres around the country in partnership with The Irish Cancer Society. CLIMB® stands for Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery and is a programme for children aged 5-12 who are experiencing the impact of a parent’s, other significant adult’s or a brother or sister’s cancer diagnosis.

TESCO HOMEGROWN CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARDS
The TESCO Homegrown Club Person of the Year Awards return in 2015. Volunteers are amongst the most important people involved in the sport, their role is central to the success of Ladies Gaelic Football and it is fair to say that there simply would not be any game without them. Every club has person that is involved as a coach or perhaps groundsperson or that makes the tea and sandwiches after matches with being a club officer. Nominations are now being accepted for this prestigious award up until the January 30th closing date and full details and application form is available on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie

ANNERVILLE AWARD FOR AISHLING MOLONEY, CAHIR
Congratulations to Aishling Moloney, Cahir on being selected as the Ladies Football winner for the Annual Annerville Award. Aishling will be presented with her award on Saturday January 24th at the Annual Annerville Awards.

GAELIC4GIRLS PROGRAMME
Gaelic4Girls is a twelve week programme incorporating coaching sessions with fun non-competitive blitzes aimed at increasing participation in Ladies Gaelic Football. The programme targets girls aged between 8 – 12 years who are not currently registered with a Ladies Gaelic Football club. In essence, this is a tool to attract new players. The programme was a huge success in 2013 and 2014, with 64 clubs applying for the programme. 40 Clubs representing 27 Counties, were successful in their application resulting in a total of 1,447 girls participating on the programme, 1,037 of which were never registered with the Association before.

Full application details are available on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie. Closing date for applications is 30th January 2015 and a maximum of two sites can be selected from your County to participate in the Programme.
