Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes – 12th May 2014

TIPPERARY POST PRIMARY BLITZ
On Friday, May 2nd Dr. Morris Park, Thurles hosted a feast of Tipperary Ladies Football as Post Primary Schools from all over the County competed in an U15 Blitz. Loreto Clonmel, Ursuline Thurles and St. Anne’s Tipperary Town all competed in the A Competition. Cashel Community School, St. Ailbe’s Tipperary Town, Our Lady’s Templemore, Scoil Ruain Killenaule, Rockwell College and Presentation Ballingarry competed in the B Competition. The A Competition provided some tough games in the early rounds with the Ursuline Thurles defeating Cashel Community School in the Semi-Final. St. Anne’s Tipperary Town awaited in the final but proved too strong for the Ursuline, running out winners of the A competition. Afterwards, the Cup was presented by Tommie Campbell, Tipperary Ladies Football Chairman to Emer Quirke, St. Anne’s School Captain.

In the B Competition Semi Finals, Rockwell College defeated Our Lady’s School Templemore while Scoil Ruain Killenaule secured a narrow victory over local rivals Presentation Ballingarry.

A very entertaining final followed only to see Rockwell College and Scoil Ruain Killenaule finish level. Sudden death point scoring attempts were required to separate the teams with Rockwell coming out on top. In his speech while presenting the Cup to Laura Morrissey, Rockwell College captain Tommie Campbell, Chairman thanked all schools for competing and to the teams in the B Competition for providing such an entertaining finish to the day. The Chairman expressed his wish that all schools would return on May 16th to Rockwell College for the Under 14 Tipperary Ladies Football Post Primary Blitz.

A Competition-
Semi Final: Ursuline Convent School, Thurles defeated Cashel Community School
Final: St. Anne’s Tipperary Town defeated Ursuline School, Thurles.

B Competition –
Semi Finals: Rockwell College defeated Our Lady’s Templemore and Scoil Ruain, Killenaule defeated Presentation Ballingarry.
Final: Rockwell College defeated Scoil Ruain, Killenaule

TIPPERARY U16 CHAMPIONSHIP
On Sunday last Cahir and Moyle Rovers took to the pitch in a windswept Ballylooby to compete in the Tipperary U16 A Championship Final. Moyle Rovers with the aid of the wind opened the scoring with a goal in the second minute and continued to dominate throughout the first half of the match. Half time score 1-7 to 0-2. Cahir took to the field in the second half with the aid of the wind and used it to their full advantage turning their eight point deficit to a nine point lead in the fifty third minute. In the final seven minutes Moyle Rovers netted two balls to Cahir’s two points consequently reducing the winning margin to five points. Cahir 5-11 Moyle Rovers 4-9.
Lattin Cullen were presented with the title of Tipperary U16 B Champions on Friday last when they overcame Boherlahan in Bansha.
On Monday May 5th the Tipperary U16 C and D Finals were played in New Inn in front of a large crowd. Thurles Sarsfields defeated Galtee Rovers in the Tipperary U16 C Final while Moycarkey Borris overpowered St. Patrick’s in the Tipperary U16 D Final.

U14 POST PRIMARY BLITZ
Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football are hosting their second Post Primary Ladies Football Blitz for pupils who were Under 14 on July 1st 2013 i.e. Born on or after July 1st 1999. The Blitz will be held in Rockwell College, Cashel on Friday May 16th. Please note that the Blitz will be 11 a side with a panel of 15 players.

ONLINE REGISTRATION TRAINING
Ladies Gaelic Football has announced training for the Servasport Registration system. This training will take you step by step through the registration process once you have accessed the Servasport system. It will be held on Thursday 15th May at the Castletroy Hotel, Limerick at 8pm. Registration is essential and the form can be found on www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie along with the criteria for the training.

DEVELOPMENT SQUADS
Tipperary Ladies Football is starting to organise their 2014 Development Squads. It is hoped to commence the following squads on these dates

County U12 Academy Start(July 26th/27th)
County U13 Development Squad Start(Aug 9th/10th)
County U15 Development Squat Start(Aug 16th/17th)

All these programmes are in place to train girls to a standard above club level so that every child is going back to their club a better player. Top quality coaches are needed and it is a great opportunity also for coaches who aspire to be part of a county team in future years.
