Intercounty : The Tipperary under 14 ladies had a home game against Clare last Saturday in the third round of the Munster Championships in a game played in Ballyporeen. Following early round wins against Limerick and Waterford they continued their impressive championship form to date. This win now sees them into Munster championship action against the losers of the Cork/Kerry ‘A’ game on Saturday 19th March. This match will require a considerable step up in intensity and performance in what is effectively a Munster ‘A’ semi final on the 9th April. On form so far this Tipp team are well capable of meeting the challenge having won all their first round games and will now relish the opportunity to take on the Munster “big guns” so to speak.

Tipperary Under 16s will be out in competitive action this coming Thursday, 17th March against Waterford in Clonmel at 2pm. This promises to be a tight affair with very little to choose between the sides. The Tipp ladies having being training well under Ed Burke since early this year and will hope to get their Munster campaign off to a winning start against the neighbours. Home advantage could swing it here and support for the Tipp ladies will be much appreciated.

Tipperary Minor ladies are also shortly into action against Cork Ladies. The minors will compete in the Munster ‘A’ Championships this year with no “back door” route available having won two Minor ‘B’ Munster & All Ireland titles back to back in 2014 & 2015. The girls under manager Mary O’ Shea travelled to Newbridge last Sunday to take on Kildare ladies in a very competitive challenge game. Kildare had already played two rounds of the Leinster championships but the Tipp ladies gave an excellent account of themselves and with some fine tuning and another game or two will be well up for the Cork game on the 26th March.

Tipperary Intermediate Ladies team are now in second place in the National League (ahead of Roscommon on score difference) following four successive wins in Division three. With two games remaining in preliminary rounds against Roscommon (3rd April home) and Leitrim (10th April away ) Gerry McGill’s team are almost assured of a league semi final spot. Opposition will most likely be provided by Waterford, Wexford or Roscommon depending on final league positions. 1st Placed plays 3rd with 2nd placed playing 4th. League semi finals will be played on the 17th April at a neutral venue.

Enda McDonnell Irish Bursary 2016: Congratulations to Aisling Deely, Clonmel Commercials who has been awarded The Tipperary Ladies & Enda McDonnell Irish bursary award for 2016. Enda held many positions within Tipperary LGFA and was a tremendous worker, administrator and promoter for Ladies Gaelic football in his lifetime.

Clubs are asked to get their games, both juvenile and adult fixtures played on time. Already some fixtures have fallen behind and this will lead to a backlog later. With many players involved in club at more than one grade and some also playing on intercounty teams fixtures are arranged to prevent players being expected to play multiple games any one week.
