Tipperary GAA Open Night

Tipperary GAA Open Night takes place in Semple Stadium this Thurs evening from 6.15pm to 7.15pm before Senior Training. Clubs/Schools/Parents are encouraged to bring along all our young supporters to meet their hurling and football heroes on the pitch in Semple Stadium. Wrist Bands and Autograph Cards will be distributed and photographers will be present to take pictures with their favourite players. All supporters are encouraged to wear their county colours and make it a very colourful occasion. At 7.15 the SF panel will go to Dr Morris Park where they will play a challenge v Kildare whilst the SH will remain and train in Semple Stadium. Supporters are welcome to stay on and watch either team. Looking forward to seeing a big crowd in Semple Stadium on Thurs night to give our county players a big boost before their championship openers against Limerick in less than 3 weeks.

Tipperary GAA Draw Postponed
The new Tipperary GAA Members Draw, due to commence this Friday night has been deferred two weeks to give clubs an opportunity to maximise their sales. Clubs are asked to take full advantage of this break and use the extra two weeks to increase their membership and bring in much needed revenue without incurring any risk or cost. It’s still the best County GAA Draw in the country and we should take pride in keeping it successful. Any Draw that puts up 24 car prizes and still offers a weekly lotto alongside, must be supported as it would be impossible to replace it. Patrons can pay €100 up front or pay in cash instalments to their promoter or sign up a direct debit. Supporters outside of Tipperary can join on-line by logging on to www.tipperary.gaa.ie The first draw for May will now take place on Friday May 30th in The Templemore Arms.

MUNSTER MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Tipperary Minor Footballers dominance over the Kingdom in recent years was severely dented last week as Kerry demolished the Premier challenge with a 17 point victory in the Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship Semi-Final in Semple Stadium. A Kerry goal in the opening thirty seconds from their first attack signaled their intent, and were it not for some brilliant saves from Tipp keeper Jack Brady, the half time score of 2-3 to 0-4 could have been a lot worse. Despite Tipp’s gallant efforts the second half was damage limitation as a very impressive Kerry ran out easy winners 2-18 to 0-7. Our thanks to the management team under Charlie McGeever for their trojan efforts over the past six months in preparing this team.

UNDER 21 HURLING CHALLENGE
Tipp U21 Hurlers continue to prepare for their opening Munster Championship game v Clare and last Sun evening played Kilkenny in the rescheduled official opening of the Micheal Hogan Community Sportsfield in Grangemockler. Congrats to the parish of Grangemockler Ballyneale and the local GAA Club on providing these excellent facilities as a fitting tribute to Michael Hogan who laid down his life on a sporting occasion while representing his native county in Croke Park on what has become known as “Bloody Sunday”. On Sunday night Kilkenny were victorious in an entertaining game played in perfect conditions. Final Score 1-18 to 1-17. Tipperary lined out as follows; Paul Maher (Moyne Templetuohy), David Sweeney (Kildangan), Michael Breen (Ballina), Tom Fox (Eire Og Annacarty), Jack Loughnane (Kildangan),Thomas Hamill (Killea), Jason Ryan (Toomevara), Seamus Kennedy (St Marys), Bill Maher (Kilsheelan), Conor Hammersley (Clonoulty Rossmore), Colm Canning (Toomevara), Odhran Floyd (Newport), Sean Maher (Clonoulty Rossmore) , Jason Forde (Silvermines), Tadhg Gallagher (Kildangan)

Intermediate Hurling
Our new IH selectors have wasted no time in putting a panel together for Tipp’s opening Munster Championship game v Limerick on Sun June 1st. Under manager John Carroll (Roscrea) and his selectors, John Ryan (Upperchurch), Sean O Meara (Mullinahone) and Anthony (Bricky) O’Neill (Cappawhite) they played a challenge on last Monday evening against Waterford in Clonmel. The Decies dominated the first half and led by 11 points at half time but Tipp rang the changes at half time and competed much better in the second half to come within four points at the final whistle. Final Score Waterford 3-19, Tipperary 3-15. Tipp lined out as follows; James Logue, Joe Carroll, Christy Coughlan, Kevin Waltzer, Aiden McGrath, Joe Gallagher, Ronan Sherlock, Jason Lonergan, Paudie Whyte, David Collins, Michael Sheedy, Paul Ryan, John Sheedy, Bill Walsh, Tony O Brien.
