Tipperary Senior Hurlers
Well done to the Senior Hurlers who secured a 2-24 to 1-23 victory over Waterford last Sunday in Azzurri Walsh Park in Round 6 of the Allianz Hurling League.
The Premier County faced a difficult first half and trailed by eight points at the break (1-17 to 1-9) after Waterford took full advantage of the wind and started strongly. Led by a brilliant display from John McGrath, who scored 1-4 and earned man of the match, Tipp dominated the second half and outscored Waterford 1-15 to 0-6. A crucial goal from substitute Gearóid O’Connor put Tipp ahead late in the game as they held out for a hard earned victory.

Tipperary will host Kilkenny this coming Saturday 21st March in FBD Semple Stadium, with throw-in at 7.00 pm in their final group game of the Allianz Hurling League. The game will be streamed live on the Spórt TG4 YouTube page The counties share a competitive league history with 75 encounters, including 7 draws, with Tipperary holding a slight edge with 35 victories to Kilkenny’s 33. Tipperary have won the last three league meetings between the sides with group stage victories in 2022, 2023 and 2025. Kilkenny won the 2019 group game by a single point while in 2018 Kilkenny claimed the League title with a 2-23 to 2-17 Final victory over Tipperary. Walter Walsh and Conor Fogarty scored the goals for Kilkenny while Jason Forde finished with an impressive 2-12 (1-9f, 1 ‘65, 1 sideline).

Tipperary Senior Footballers
The Senior Footballers had a tough day on the road last Sunday as they lost to Wicklow on a 0-14 to 3-19 scoreline in Echelon Park, Aughrim. The Garden County produced a dominant first half display and led Tipperary 2-15 to 0-3 at the interval. Wicklow had the wind in the opening half and used it to their advantage, kicking a number of two pointers to move well ahead early in the game. Tipperary made a solid start to the second half through a Sean O’Connor two pointer but were unable to make full use of the wind to close the gap. Goals proved difficult to come by and Tipp were unable to claw back the Wicklow lead.

FBD Semple Stadium will host the Footballers final group game this coming Sunday 22nd March at 1.00 pm when they will face Waterford. The last five games between the sides have been very competitive with three draws in 2014, 2022 and 2024. Tipperary were victorious in last year’s meeting 1-14 to 0-9 with Sean O’Connor scoring the game’s only goal. The other game in that run saw Waterford win 2-8 to 0-9 in 2013.

Under 20 Football
Tipperary were beaten by Clare in the opening round of Dalata Hotel Group Munster Under 20 Football Championship , losing 1-16 to 1-11 in Quilty last Saturday. After a fairly even start, Clare hit a run of 1-4, including two two pointers and a goal from Seán Fennell, to open up a gap. Tipperary responded well with a Liam Kiely goal and a number of points to cut the deficit, but Clare still led 1-10 to 1-6 at half-time. Tipperary worked hard in the second half and enjoyed good spells of possession, but Clare continued to pick off scores to keep the Premier County at a distance and secure the win.

The lads will be looking to bounce back quickly as they are back in action this Saturday 21st March when they face Limerick at 2.00 pm in New Inn. The game will be live on Clubber.
The last five meetings between the sides have been evenly shared with two wins each and one draw. The draw came in 2024, while Tipperary recorded victories last year (3-8 to 0-6) and in the 2021 Quarter Final (0-16 to 1-10). Limerick’s wins came in the 2019 and 2020 Quarter Finals, both by a single point.
The top two following the Phase 1 round robin will qualify for the Phase 2 round robin where they will be joined by Kerry and Cork.

Tickets For Allianz League Games
Supporters are reminded that tickets for all Allianz League games must be purchased online or in selected Centra and SuperValu stores, as tickets will not be on sale at match venues. Please note that Tap & Go will not be in operation at any venue, and in line with GAA policy for all competitions, no cash will be accepted at the turnstiles.
Munster Senior Hurling Championship Ticket Allocation
Following last weeks announcement by Munster GAA regarding ticket arrangements for the upcoming 2026 Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary GAA wishes to outline how tickets can be accessed for all four group games in the championship. For Round 1 v Cork in FBD Semple Stadium and Round 2 v Waterford in Walsh Park, all tickets will be distributed through the clubs of the county. There will be no public sale of tickets for either game. For Round 4 v Clare and Round 5 v Limerick, tickets will go on public sale on April 8th. Tickets for these games will also be distributed through the clubs of the county.Please note that Tipperary GAA will not have any tickets available for public sale through the County Board Office. Supporters are asked to contact their clubs or purchase tickets via the online ticketing platforms (Rounds 4 & 5). Season Ticket holders will be allocated tickets by the Season Ticket team. Any queries regarding these tickets should be directed to seasonticket@gaa.ie. A limited number of Juvenile Group tickets will be available for all Tipperary matches.
Clubs can apply for Juvenile Group tickets via http://www.munster.gaa.ie/tickets from Wednesday, April 8th, with a maximum allocation of 40 tickets per club (including a
maximum of 6 adults). One application per club will be accepted.

County Leagues
The FBD Insurance County Hurling League commenced last weekend with action across Divisions 1 to 6.
In Division 1 Group 1, Nenagh Éire Óg, helped by two late goals, recorded a 2-16 to 0-18 home victory over Borris-Ileigh. Kiladangan were also impressive in the group, defeating JK Brackens 5-15 to 2-16. The remaining game in the group takes place this Friday in Clonoulty where the home side host Drom-Inch.
In Group 2, Toomevara v Holycross Ballycahill and Thurles Sarsfields v Kilruane MacDonaghs took place on Monday and Tuesday with no result available at the time of going to print. Cashel King Cormacs v Moycarkey Borris, scheduled for last Sunday, was one of a number of games postponed due to the effect recent rain had on playing pitches.
In Group 3, Mullinahone recorded a 2-12 to 0-15 victory over Carrick Swan while Upperchurch Drombane had an impressive 1-21 to 0-12 win over Loughmore Castleiney. Roscrea v Gortnahoe Glengoole took place on St Patrick’s Day with no result available at the time of going to print.
In Division 2 Group 1, Killenaule impressed with a 1-19 to 1-11 victory over Lorrha Dorrha while Burgess edged neighbours Ballina by the narrowest of margins, 2-13 to 1-15. St Mary’s completed the group action with a 1-17 to 0-15 win over Boherlahan Dualla.
In Group 2 Éire Óg Annacarty Donohill defeated Moyne Templetuohy 0-16 to 1-11 while Moneygall got the better of Thurles Sarsfields (2) by 1-15 to 0-14. Clonakenny v Templederry Kenyons was postponed.
In Division 3 Group 1, Ballingarry recorded a notable 1-17 to 1-13 victory over Silvermines, Cappawhite defeated Portroe 0-17 to 0-10 while Golden Kilfeacle edged Kilsheelan Kilcash 2-15 to 2-14. In Group 2, Arravale Rovers had a 1-22 to 1-16 victory over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams, Sean Treacy’s defeated Newport 0-17 to 1-11 while Shannon Rovers overcame Borrisokane 0-18 to 0-14.
Only one game in Division 4 took place last weekend with Moyle Rovers defeating St Patrick’s 1-13 to 0-13. Toomevara (2) v Clonoulty Rossmore (2) was postponed while Holycross Ballycahill (2) v Thurles Sarsfields (3) is scheduled for April.
In Division 5 Group 1, Carrick Davins defeated Cahir 0-19 to 0-16. Ballinahinch v Moycarkey Borris was postponed while Rockwell Rovers v Ballybacon Grange took place on St Patrick’s Day. In Group 2, Galtee Rovers St Pecaun’s defeated St Mary’s (2) 3-19 to 2-15 while Gortnahoe Glengoole (2) defeated Lattin Cullen 0-17 to 1-10. Cashel King Cormacs (2) v Carrick Swan (2) takes place this Sunday. In Group 3, Fr Sheehy’s and Fethard played out a 1-10 to 0-13 draw while Boherlahan Dualla (2) defeated Grangemockler Ballyneale 4-11 to 1-15. Kilruane MacDonaghs (2) face Mullinahone (2) this coming weekend.
In Division 6 Group 1, Rosegreen defeated Knockshegowna 0-15 to 0-7 while Killea overcame St Patrick’s (2) 0-20 to 0-9. In Group 2 Moyne Templetuohy (2) defeated Cahir (2) 3-10 to 1-8 while Cappawhite (2) recorded a 2-15 to 0-17 win over Borrisokane (2). Ballingarry also had a comprehensive victory over Marlfield. In Group 3 Ballybacon Grange (2) defeated Killenaule 2-9 to 0-9 while Gortnahoe Glengoole (3) had a 3-19 to 0-10 win over Skeheenarinky (2). Kilruane MacDonaghs v Thurles Gaels was postponed.

Tipperary Coaching & Games Development
Registration is open for the Tipperary GAA Easter Camps 2026. The camps will take place from 31st March to 2nd April or 7th to 9th April, running daily from 10am to 1pm at various venues across the county (see Tipperary GAA social media channels for the full list of venues and dates). The cost is €40 per child, with every participant receiving a free football and sliotar, and a €5 per child rebate going back to their club. Refereeing Activity
A number of Tipperary referees and officials represented the county on the intercounty stage in Allianz League action last weekend.
Sean Lonergan acted as stand-by referee for the Allianz Football League game between Kerry and Mayo. David Grogan was appointed as time official for the Cork v Kildare clash while Derek O’Mahoney served as time official for the Clare v Wexford game.
Handball News
A great weekend for Tipperary Handball where we had four players competing in All-Ireland finals.
First up on Saturday was Kevin Buckley from Cashel who was up against Enda Timoney from Dublin in the DMBS. After coming so close in the past, Kevin had a tough first game winning 21–16 and made no mistake in the second, cruising to a 21–6 All-Ireland win.
Also on Saturday, Billy Mullins in the O70 Singles proved too strong for Eugene Kennedy from Dublin. With strong serving and great overall play, the Clonmel man added to his All-Ireland tally.
On Sunday in the Ladies O35 Singles, Karen Monaghan from Ballina brought a rare ladies All-Ireland title back to Tipperary. She was up against Marina Kilduff from Dublin who coincidentally had family links with the Silvermines in Tipperary. Both girls played well but the strong serving from Karen had the Dublin player under pressure throughout and Karen went on to a deserved victory.
Last up on Sunday was Rory Grace in the Intermediate Singles final against Niall Joyce from Mayo. The first game was a tough encounter with a lot of play and both players content on keeping the ball on the wall. After a long tussle Rory won the first 21–15. The second game saw Rory step up a gear and with some great roof and kill shots he took control and eased to a great victory, winning 21–7.

All Stars Coaching Workshop
The GAA, Camogie Association, Ladies Gaelic Football Association, GAA Handball and GAA Rounders have launched the All Stars Coaching Workshop, a new coach education programme to help clubs provide inclusive Gaelic Games opportunities for players with additional needs. The programme was developed following the 2025 Engagement and Inclusivity in Gaelic Games research, which found many coaches want more support, practical guidance and adaptable activities when delivering inclusive sessions. Volunteers can begin their journey to becoming a Qualified All Stars Coach by completing a 90-minute in-person workshop and a 15-minute online recap on Tobar, alongside standard Safeguarding and Garda Vetting requirements. The workshop provides practical games, guidance on adapting sessions for different needs and access to an online hub of supporting resources. Female Coach Academy Programme 2026
Applications are now open for the 2026 Gaelic Games Female Coach Academy Programme, run by the GAA in partnership with the Camogie Association, Ladies Gaelic Football Association and GAA Handball. The programme aims to support and retain female coaches involved in the Gaelic Games player pathway through a combination of workshops, mentoring and coach development sessions. Participants will take part in group learning sessions, mentoring and personal development planning throughout the year. ‘The Replay’ Initiative Launched
A new initiative called “The Replay” was launched last week, bringing the iconic voice of legendary GAA commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh back to support people living with dementia.
Developed by the GAA, RTÉ Archives and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, the platform features historic All-Ireland hurling and football final commentaries from 1985 to 2010. The recordings are designed to spark memories and positive emotions through reminiscence therapy for people living with dementia and their families.

South Tipp Hospice Movement (STMH) has launched a dedicated Children’s and Adolescents Grief Support for young people aged 4 to 18 who experienced bereavement.
