Tipperary Camogie Notes – May 27th 2014

Munster Intermediate Final: Cork 1-9 Tipperary 0-3

Played in Kilmallock last Saturday, it was Cork who led from the start with a point from Killeagh’s Hannah Looney to open proceedings. They continued popping over the points with Jess Henigan unerring from placed ball throughout. Tipperary struggled to cope with player of the match Sarah Buckley who dominated at half back, while setting up countless scoring opportunities for Niamh Burns, and Amanda O’Regan. Cahir’s Sinead Kennedy was Tipp’s sole scorer in the first half, with Drom & Inch’s Michelle Shortt outstanding for her side. Half time Cork 0-6 Tipperary 0-1.
The second half saw a little more pep in Tipperary’s step, with Lorna O’Dwyer and Niamh Tracey adding to their tally, but it was all Cork when Sinead O’Neill goaled on 48 minutes. With Amanda O’Regan and Kate O’Keefe adding points in the last few minutes, Cork secured the title, with Amanda O’Regan receiving the cup from Chairman of the Munster Council James Moynihan.
Scorers for Cork: H.Looney 0-1 J. Hennigan 0-4 (4f), A.O’Regan 0-2, S.O’Neill 1-0, K.O’Keefe 1-1.
Scorers for Tipperary: L.O’Dwyer 0-1, S.Kennedy 0-1, N.Tracey 0-1.

Our U14s travel to Mallow this weekend to compete in the Cork blitz we wish the girls and mentors all the best in this competition.
