TIPPERARY 4-06 DUBLIN 1-15

Tipperary travelled to Portmarnock at the Trinity Gaels GAA complex to play this 3rd round Irish Daily Star National camogie league Div 1 league match. Tipperary were without a number of players due to injury but were quietly confident of getting a result. Tipperary started brightly enough and had the better of the early exchanges but failed to take a clear goal chance and were guilty of some poor wides. Dublin took the lead through two frees the Nicole Walsh opened the score for Tipperary .A fine point from play by Cait Devane brought Tipp level but Tipperary were conceding a lot of frees which Dublins Ciara Berkley converted. Good play by Mary Ryan and Alice Fogarty gave Aoife McGrath a sight of Dublins goal and she converted to give Tipperary a two point lead ,Tipperary were looking very comfortable until an error by goalie Orla McIniry let a speculative Dublin shot to slip into the goal. Minutes later fine attacking play by Amy Kennedy resulted in a penalty for Tipp Nicole Walsh pointed to leave the halftime score Tipperary 1-04 Dublin 1-05. Tipperary started the second half attacking Dublin and had them under severe pressure with Amy Kennedy scoring a fine goal from a great handpass from Sabrina Larkin. Tipp were playing very well at this stage with Cait Devane driving Tipperary on and getting a great long range point to increase Tipperary’s lead, great interplay again from Sabrina Larkin enabled Amy Kennedy to score her second goal to put further pressure on Dublin, however Tipperary continued to give frees away and Dublin’s Ciara Berkeley kept Dublin in touch. Dublin conceded another penalty and this time Nicole Walsh fired the ball into the top corner of the goal.Further frees from Nicole Walsh gave Tipperary a six point lead with only five minutes of play left when Dublin came storming back with six unanswered points two of them in added time to draw the match.Tipperary will feel very disappointed with this result and must wonder how they lost such a lead.
