Irish Daily Star Camogie League Division 1
Tipperary 0-9 Wexford 0-13

The 2nd round of the league took place in Cloughjordan last Sunday 28th February when Tipperary took on Wexford. The Tipp girls needed a big improvement from the last game against Galway and started brightly with Jenny Grace getting the 1st score of the game. Tipp had the majority of possession in the first half but again failed to make that count on the score board with some real scoring opportunitys missed and going into the break the score was Wexford 0-09 Tipp 0-04 Jenny Grace scoring 0-03 & Ereena Fryday scoring 0-01.

Tipp battled hard in the 2nd half outscoring Wexford with points from Jenny Grace,Ereena Fryday, Mairead Teehan, Sarah Fryday & substitute Mirian Campion. This is a game Tipperary should of won and the girls will know that, but too many scoring opportunitys again were wasted, but considering Tipp were without a number of regulars on the starting 15 a lot of positives can be taken from this game and the girls now have a 2 week break until the next game against Clare on the 13th of March this is a home game with a venue yet to be decided.

Tipperary Camogie would like to take this opportunity to thank Kilruane MacDonaghs Gaa club in Cloughjordan for hosting this game and for looking after us so well on the day and for the refreshments after the match.

Minor A Championship Round 2

Tipperary 1-10 Dublin 1-4

Round 2 of the minor championship got underway last Saturday afternoon 27th February in Roscrea when Dublin travelled down to play Tipperary in what was a very entertaining game of camogie. Conditions were heavy but fair play to both teams it was action from end to end with missed chances from both sides to get the first score of the game . Tipp soon settled down getting some fine scores thanks to corner forward Grace O’Brien scoring 1-02 and points from Sinead Meagher & Clare Stakelum leaving the half time score Tipp 1-04 Dublin 1-02.

In the 2nd half Orla O’Dwyer added on 3 more points for Tipp having a fantastic game , and Grace O’Brien converting 2 more frees leaving the full time score Tipperary 1-10 Dublin 1-04. This was a very solid performance from Tipperary, great team work and some great individual displays from Orla O’Dwyer and goal keeper Caoimhe Bourke who was very impressive in the goals. Well done to all concerned a great win and a great performance 2 wins from 2 ,next up for the girls is a game against Clare on the 12th March this is a home game with a venue yet to be decided.

Tipperary Camogie would like to take this opportunity to thank Roscrea Gaa for the use of their facilities and the pitch and especially Paul Phelan & Donal Kennedy for looking after us.

U16 A Munster Semi Final

Tipperary 4-9 Clare 2-6

Our u16 girls travelled to Clare last Sunday 28th February for their semi final match against Clare.

Tipperary got the better start dominating play but Clare soon found their feet scoring 1-01 without reply forcing Tipp management to make a couple of positional changes which worked and Tipp went into the half time break leading Clare on a scoreline of Tipp 1-04 Clare 1-01. The Tipp girls dominated play in the 2nd half and were just too strong for Clare, so much so that Tipp management emptied the bench giving some of the girls some valuable match time. Well done girls on a great win it was a fantastic team performance with some impressive displays from Caroline Brown scoring 4-03 and centre back Caoimhe Pardue was excellent along with Laura Shinners & Thea Curtin.

The girls now have a Munster final to look forward to as do the u16 B team and both games are down for Sunday 13th March and we wish both teams the very best of luck in their finals.
