TIPPERARY ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL REPORT 30TH SEPTEMBER

BY PAUDIE FAHEY

TIOBRAID ÁRANN ABÚ
Congratulations to the Tipperary Senior Hurling panel on a great display of skill and determination in the face of a strong Kilkenny side. Unfortunately it was not to be Tipperary’s day. Regardless of the outcome they did Tipperary proud in the replay and certainly delighted every supporter, young and old, throughout this year. Best wished to the squad as they go forward from here to a well earned rest from all at Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol.

FOOTBALL A.G.M. 2014
The Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Football A.G.M. took place Monday 22nd September at 7:30 p.m. in Hayes Hotel, Thurles. Schools throughout the county were represented at the A.G.M. Secretary Aodan Wrenn read through the minutes of the previous A.G.M. This was followed by Chairman Paddy Kelly who thanked everyone who works behind the scenes in the running of Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol including the officers, GDA’s, and teachers who work to make each game memorable for the children involved. Treasurer Jerry O’Donnell gave an account of the uptake on the equipment scheme and presented a healthy financial position to date. Football PRO Paudie Fahey reiterated the importance of reporting not only for the promotion of Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol activities but also as a great way of boosting school reputation and the delight of the players in seeing their name in print. Fixtures for the coming football season were then presented as well as regradings for all those who applied for such. Chairman Paddy Kelly then concluded a successful A.G.M.

U-11 FIXTURES
The forth coming u-11 competition fixtures will be reviewed and decided upon by officers in the coming days and be forwarded to schools in due course. A reminder to all that any schools who are entering into the u-11 competitions should have contacted Secretary Aodan Wrenn with school/team details. If any school has yet to enter and wish to do so contact Aodan Wrenn on 087 6578057 with their entries immediately. Please text the name of the school, the organising teacher and competitions you wish to enter.

REGISTRATION FEE 2014 & 2015
The registration fee of € 30 is payable on an annual basis by every school participating in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol activities including the equipment scheme. A handful of schools have yet to pay the fee for the 2014 year. The registration fee is a vital revenue source for the promotion of Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol activities. Registration runs from January to December of any given year and as such registration for 2015 should be returned in the new year and not in the current 2014 year as this can cause confusion as to what year a school has registered for for all.

MEDIA PARTNERS
A reminder that weekly reports are published by local Tipperary news publications The Tipperary Star, The Nenagh Guardian, The Nationalist, South Tipp Today and now online at tipperarytimes.com. From match reports to training diaries and everything in between, I would encourage as many schools as possible to send in material and keep the county up to date with your continued efforts and progress. Formatting details are below.

MOUTHGUARDS
As the football season begins schools are reminded of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Both boys and girls playing in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic football fixtures must wear mouthguards without exception at all times. It would be advised that schools would also use mouthguards when training to allow children to get used to using them and to follow best practice.

REPORTER OF THE WEEK
Schools are reminded and encouraged to send news and updates of their progress in the football championships for the coming season. Reports can be a great writing topic for the classroom and are an opportunity for children to see their work published for a wider audience. In the pre-season championship build-up children could be given the chance to tell about their own training regiments and tips for the coming championship. A Reporter of the Week will be chosen and their work included in the weekly report. Please ensure all reports are a single paragraph in Verdana 10 type. All submissions should be proof-read by the teacher before submission.
