ARDFINNAN N.S. V CLERIHAN N.S.

Ardfinnan had home advantage for this opening game of the U13 Boy’s Championship. Conditions were perfect as the game began. Both teams had no doubt trained well for the game but it was clear from early on that Ardfinnan had greater strength around the middle and up front. Early goals from Eoin Wyse, Aaron Poliunas and Morgan Lambert allowed early substitutions to be made. This was a very pleasing position given the wish to give games to as many subs as possible. Clerihan never gave in and worked some nice movements into scoring positions and in the 2nd half goaled and also scored a number of nice points. Ardfinnan’s joint Captains, Adam Quirke and Ben Doyle played very well, as did Philip Betts, Kevin Burke, Tadhg Carroll and Shane Ryan. Great points from subs David Butler and Sean Cunningham were highlights. Ardfinnan next face Kilsheelan, who as in the case of Clerihan, the maroons have not beaten for a number of years. Also on Ardfinnan’s panel, playing their parts well, were Cian O’Mahoney, James Kirwan, Jamie Lonergan, Jamie O Regan, Eoin Keane, Dakota Lambert and Tadhg Ryan. Clerihan’s panel included Ríain Casey, Oisín Dempsey, Dylan Curtis, Kieran O’Donnell, Darragh Hanrahan, Seán Cooney (captain), Óran Ryan, Scott O’Connor, Conor Gearon, Donnacha Keeley, Hugh Fitzgerald, Craig Whyte and Evan Kiely. Thanks to Derek O Mahoney for refereeing and Paddy Noonan for preparing the pitch.

BURNCOURT N.S. V SHRONELL N.S.
Off to a great start Burncourt NS boys U13 team defeated Shronell N.S in Lattin on Monday September 29th. The weather was superb for a great match between these two enthusiastic panels of players. The side that lined out forBurncourt N.S. were Patrick Bailey, Jesse Kiely, Cieren Connolly, Liam Carroll, Daniel English, Darragh Maher, Cian O Brien. Subs used were Cathal English for Liam Carroll and Rian Riordan for Ceiren Connolly. Well done to Shronell and thanks for their hospitality.

U-11 FIXTURES
The forthcoming u-11 competition fixtures will be reviewed and decided upon by officers this week and forwarded to schools in due course.

RULE CHANGE REMINDER
All schools are reminded that 45’s can now be taken from the ground or from the hand in football. This rule was voted in at Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol A.G.M. in January 2014.

REGISTRATION FEE 2014 & 2015
The registration fee of €30 is payable on an annual basis by every school participating in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol activities including the equipment scheme. A handful of schools have yet to pay the fee for the 2014 year. The registration fee is a vital revenue source for the promotion of Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol activities. Registration runs from January to December of any given year and as such registration for 2015 should be returned in the New Year and not in the current 2014 year as this can cause confusion as to what year a school has registered for all.

MOUTHGUARDS
As the football season begins schools are reminded of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Both boys and girls playing in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic football fixtures must wear mouthguards without exception at all times. It would be advised that schools would also use mouthguards when training to allow children to get used to using them and to follow best practice.

REPORTER OF THE WEEK
Schools are reminded and encouraged to send news and updates of their progress in the football championships for the coming season. Reports can be a great writing topic for the classroom and are an opportunity for children to see their work published for a wider audience. In the pre-season championship build-up children could be given the chance to tell about their own training regiments and tips for the coming championship. A Reporter of the Week will be chosen and their work included in the weekly report. Please ensure all reports are a single paragraph in Verdana 10 type. All submissions should be proof-read by the teacher before submission.
