NEW INN SEE OFF GRANGEMOCKLER CHALLENGE BY KEVIN CLEARY
The Match between Grangemockler and New Inn National School was an enticing fixture and did not disappoint. In the first half the scoring started early with New Inn getting a free in the backs which John Marnane scored a long range goal from. Both teams in the first half played well with some impressive play from Grangemockler’s Mikie Lyons and Leah McGuire and some great back heroics from New Inns’ Tom Downey, John Marnane and goalkeeper Kevin Cleary. The half time score was New Inn 3-5 to Grangemockler’s 1-2 with some good New Inn scores from Christopher Lonergan, Conor O’Neil and Patrick Hickey. The second half saw Grangemockler fight back very well with some very good scores from Jamie Walsh and a good performance from Michael Kane. Towards the end of the game New Inns’ midfield of Diarmuid English and Jake Fitzgerald worked extremely well. New Inn then replaced Christopher Lonergan for Adam Gallagher who scored a brilliant top corner goal. It seemed out of Grangemockler’s reach from there, until they got a fine goal to give them a flicker of hope, but it was too late. The final score was New Inn 5-8 to Grangemockler 3-8. Well done to all
