Last week was action packed as all our Football county panels 14,15 & 16 participated in respective tournaments. As a result our U16 county finals are scheduled for Saturday July 9th.

Our U14 footballers were in action down in Waterford as the Annual Jim Power tournament was held in Dungarvan. Tipp’s first opponents were Cork East in a game that produced three goals with victory going to the rebel men on a score of 2-6 to 1-1.

The second contest had Tipp up against Kerry South which proved to be a very tough assignment with victory going to the boys from the kingdom 2-9 to 0-3.

In the third game against Clare it was a keenly fought contest but in the end Tipp were two points in arrears on a score of 2-4 to 0-8.

In the shield semi final against Kerry North it was a very evenly contested game but the men in the blue & gold went down by a solitary point Kerry North 2-5 Tipperary 1-7.

Our U15 panel traveled down to Cork to take part in the Humphrey Kelleher tournament. Tipp’s first outing was @ 10.15am in Q/F against Cork West in Drumtarriffe. This was a very evenly balanced affair and extra time had to prevail with victory going to the rebels 1-8 to 1-5. The defeat put Tipp into the shield semi final against Clare. In this game the blue & gold were superior finishing on a score 2-12 to 2-1.

The final against Limerick proved to be a game of goals with Tipp bagging four in total to win the trophy on a concluding score Tipperary 4-5 Limerick 1-5.

The U16 panel competed in the Munster U16 Tournament which is sponsored by Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, Adare. Tipperary’s opening contest was against Clare in Mick Neville pitch. The banner side were victorious with three points to the good 2-6 to 2-3.

In the shield semi contest Tipp’s opponents were Limerick with the premier boys coming out on top on a score of Tipperary 2-8 Limerick 1-5 to clinch a spot in the final. The against Cork was a low scoring contest with the rebels getting the upper hand winning on a score line of Cork 1-11 Tipperary 1-6.

Munster Poc Fáda. Our representative Moyne club man Gearóid O’Connor did us proud clinching the Munster U/16 Title on a brilliant performance.
