Féile na Gael Official Launch
Preparations on the planning for this year’s Féile na Gael tournament are well under way. Both Tipperary and Waterford are jointly hosting the event under the chairmanship of Donal Shanahan former chairman of Tipperary County Bórd and Secretary Patrica Walsh from Waterford. Two weeks ago all the draws were made and the host clubs from both counties are now aware of the visiting county they are to host. It’s going to be a very big undertaking from all involved to ensure that it’s a success and our thanks to all the host club personnel thus far for both the cooperation and enthusiasm received. The John West Féile na nGael takes place from 17th to 19th June and is being hosted between Tipperary and Waterford.

This national tournament is an annual festival encompassing Hurling, Camogie and Handball at Under 14 level. It is a fantastic honour to host this auspicious event and welcome participants and their families from all over Ireland and beyond.

The ethos of Féile is to ensure that all players are given the opportunity to participate and play in their respective Féile tournaments. Clubs gain the experience of playing teams from other counties and also foster links and friendships within these clubs.

Féile weekend will see the host clubs in both Tipperary and Waterford welcome hundreds of people to their areas and to promote and show our facilities and localities to a wide audience.

The National Launch of Féile will take place on Thursday 21st April at 7.00pm in Ballymacarbry Community Centre, Ballymacarbry nestled in the Nire Valley on the Waterford /Tipperary border. This night of music, dance and celebration will showcase local talents from national schools of Newcastle Co. Tipperary and Ballymacarbry, Co Waterford as well as other local dignitaries. The Presidents of the G.A.A., Camogie and Handball Associations will also be in attendance.
