The South 16’s bridged a 17 year gap to win the under 16 county interdivisional Garda Cup on Saturday last in Dr. Morris Park, Thurles.
In the semi-final the South were up against a tough west side that lined up with an extra defender meaning scores were very hard to come by. The first half was a very close affair finishing with a one point advantage to South Tipperary 1-6 to 1-5. Two early second half goals set the South on their way to a 3-9 to 1-8 victory.

This set the South boys up for a final against a Mid Tipperary side that had defeated the North in their Semi final by 5 points. A tense opening half that left the south wondering if they’d live to regret a string of missed scoring opportunities was brought to life by a goal from the mid to which the south responded well with points from play and placed balls by Dylan Walsh to leave the half time score all square at 1-1 to 0-4. The south controlled possession in the second half but were reliant on the accurate shooting of Dylan Walsh to come away with a 4 point win.
