Commiserations go to Newport Gaels who were beaten by Clonmel Commercials last week in Dundrum in the U16A Co Final. Up against it from the start Newport went down on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-5. Well done to Commercials who have now won the last six U16A Co Finbals. Meanwhile North Tipp was well represented by five Newport boys on the County U16 Football team that took part in the Munster inter country tournament last weekend. In the first game they beat Nth Kerry 2-4 to 0-5. Then in the semi they beat Cork in a thriller which had to go to extra time and then the golden score. Tipp 1-11 Cork 1-10. Then onto the final versus Limerick where Tipp rose to the occasion once more when they overcame the opposition 4-7 to 1-6. Well done to all involved especially Captain Jack Delahunty from Newport ably assisted by Kevin Connolly, Cian Flanagan, Kealan Floyd and Corie Mooney. Special thanks also to coach Cormac McGrath for his trojan effort. For the record the last Time Tipp won this tournament they went on to win the All Ireland Minor Title. Congrats all.
