Brendan Burns proves too hot to handle for Clonmel
St Brendan’s 0-13 HS Clonmel 1-6
Report from the Irish Independent newspaper
St Brendan’s of Killarney are back in the last four after seeing off High School in a terrific quarter-final in Mallow. Michael Burns proved to be the main threat for the Kingdom side with a host of classy points and some scintillating link-up play.
Burns, along with fellow attacker David Clifford, showed plenty of quality in front of the posts with eight points between them. Another player of note was second-half substitute Billy Courtney, who dominated the game after his introduction on 46 minutes.
For Clonmel, it was the duo of Paul and Rory Maher that stood out, with the former showing a wonderful eye for the posts. St Brendan’s got off to a great start but were rocked when a point from Rory Maher was quickly followed by a splendid goal from Clonmel’s main threat, Paul Maher. The Kerry side settled into the game again and were ahead by three at the break. (0-7 to 1-1). The second half saw St Brendan’s dominate without ever putting High School away.
