Details for next year’s Munster Championships have been announced and the following are the various dates concerning Tipperary teams, starting with senior hurling; Round 1 – Tipperary v Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on May 12th, Round 2 – Tipperary v Waterford in Semple Stadium on May 19th, Round 3 – Tipperary v Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis on June 2nd and Round 5 – Tipperary v Limerick in Semple Stadium on June 16th. The Munster senior hurling final is fixed for June 30th.

Turning the attention to senior football; Quarter-Final – Tipperary v Limerick in Semple Stadium on May 11th and the winners play Cork at a Cork venue on June 1st. The Munster senior football final is fixed for June 22nd.

In the Bord Gais Energy Munster U20 hurling championship Tipperary will play Waterford in the semi-final in Semple Stadium on June 19th.

The EirGrid U20 Munster football championship pairings have been announced and dates will follow at a later stage. Tipperary will play Limerick in the quarter-final in Semple Stadium and the winners will play Kerry in the semi-final. If Tipp progress that semi-final will take place in Semple Stadium.

Next it’s the Electric Ireland Munster minor hurling and football championships. The minor hurling championship will follow the same format as 2018 with the minors lining out before the senior teams. Details therefore are as follows; Round 1 – Tipperary v Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on May 12th, Round 2 – Tipperary v Waterford in Semple Stadium on May 19th, Round 3 – Tipperary v Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis on June 2nd and Round 5 – Tipperary v Limerick in Semple Stadium on June 16th. The Munster senior hurling final is fixed for June 30th.

The minor football championship will have a different look to it in 2019 as it will be run over 2 phases. Phase 1 will see the four ‘weaker’ counties; Tipperary, Limerick, Clare and Waterford play a round robin series of games with top 2 through to Phase 1 final. Therefore in Phase 1 Round 1 – Tipperary v Waterford in Semple Stadium on April 10th, Phase 1 Round 2 – Tipperary v Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis on April 17th, Phase 1 Round 3 – Tipperary v Limerick in Semple Stadium on April 24th.

The Phase 1 final takes place on May 7th and the Phase 1 winner will then form a group of 3 with Kerry and Cork for Phase 2. The Phase 1 winner will play the loser of Cork/Kerry in Phase 2 round 2 on May 15th and the winner of Cork/Kerry in Phase 2 Round 3 on May 23rd. The Munster final is set for June 22nd.

Details of Tipperary’s participation in the Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League will be made public at the official launch of the 2019 Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling League this Wednesday December 5th when all fixtures will be confirmed.

Tipperary will not be contesting the McGrath Cup football competition.

Ballingarry and Killenaule meet in the South U21A final this Wednesday night at 7:45pm in Templetuohy.

In the ‘B’ championship Moyne-Templetuohy/Thurles Gaels had the minimum to spare over Newport and will now play Cappawhite Gaels in what should be a cracking decider on Sunday next in Boherlahan.

SCÓR NA NÓG CRAOBH AN CHONTAE 2018-2019

The County Final of Scór na nÓg took place in Halla na Feile Caiseal on Sunday last December 2nd. Fear an tí for the evening was Seosamh Ó Baoill ó Borrisoleigh agus dhein sé éacht ar an oíche. Fear ildánach deisbhéalach é agus an taithí aige féin ar chúrsaí Scór. Bhí ard chaighdeán arís againn sna rannóga éagsúla agus bhí na moltóirí thar a bheith sásta lena hiomaitheoirí éagsúla. We wish all our buaiteoirí the very best of luck in the Munster semi-finals in Halla na Feile on January 6th, 2019 agus tá súil againn go mbeidh an chuid acu ar an stáitse arís don Chraobh.

Na buaiteoirí: Tráth na gCeist – Loughmore Castleiney; Rince Foirne – Newcastle; Amhránaíocht Aonair – Caoimhe Ní Chradóg, Holycross Ballycahill; Aithriseoireacht – Canice Ryan, Seán Treacys; Bailéad Ghrúpa – Portroe, Sean Nós – Amy O’Dwyer, Newcastle; Léiriú Staitse – JK Brackens, Ceol Uirlise – Killea agus Rince Seite – Newcastle.

Cathaoirleach Scór an Chontae Josephine Cahill thanked all present for giving of their time, energies and commitment to Scór and urged all to be thinking ahead to Scór Sinsear and Scór na bPáistí as we celebrate 50 years of Scór. We would encourage all clubs to think of increased participation in the New Year to showcase all that is best in the various disciplines on stage.

A minutes silence was observed on the death of Tom Gleeson, Ballinahinch and Silvermines who passed away recently. The Chair spoke of Tom’s great contribution to Scór in the North Division, in the County and nationwide. Bhíodh Tom gníomhach i gcónaí ag iarraidh cúrsaí cultúrtha sa chontae a chur chun cinn agus ag iarraidh daoine a spreagadh chun gníomh .Ceoltóir den scoth ab ea é féin ach go háirithe ar an organ béil agus ní raibh leisce riamh air ceol a sheinnt. Dhein an cathaoirleach comhbhrón le muintir agus le cairde Tom. Suaimhneas Síoraí dá anam uasal.

Congratulations were extended to all involved from County Chairman John Devane and lastly Josephine thanked all committee members for their work over the last few weeks. Nora Troy was wished well in her convalescence and best wishes were extended to her as she recuperates. Go mbeidh biseach ort go luath Nora.
