Irish Daily Star National Camogie League Division 1
Tipperary 0-5 Galway 3-7

Tipperary seniors met Galway last Sunday in the camogie grounds the Ragg in the first round of the league, Tipperary got off to a bright start & dominated play for the first 10 minutes but for all the hard work & possession Tipp failed to register any score and gradually Galway got back into the game and started to dominate play and picked off some fine scores leading Tipperary by 2-07 to no score at halftime. Galway started the 2nd half much as they had left off in the 1st & Tipp made some changes , Megan Ryan was introduced & worked very hard to get Tipp back into the game and that seemed to have a positive effect on the rest of the team and gradually Tipp pulled themselves back into it, Mairead Teehan scoring 3 points from frees & points from Sarah Fryday and Miriam Campion meant Tipp out scored Galway in the second half but the deficit was too great and Galway ran out winners by 11 points. Tipp will be disappointed with the first half performance but can take heart from the 2nd half fight back conditions were very poor on the day Galway just seemed to adjust quicker to them and were deserving winners on the day. Next up for the girls is a game against Wexford in round 2 of the league, the game is down for Cloughjordan on Sunday 28th February and it would be great to see a big Tipp support there to shout on the girls.

All Ireland Minor A Championship

Tipperary 2-12 Kilkenny 3-7

First round of the Minor A championship got off to a flying start last Sunday for Tipperary beating last years All Ireland champions Kilkenny by 2pts. Tipp were trailing at halftime with the score board reading Kilkenny 2-06 Tipp 0-06. Fair play to the girls they never panicked and got some great scores in the 2nd half and were deserving winners on the day. Well done girls a fantastic win Bill Mulally would have to be pleased with the performance especially the 2nd half fight back , next up for the minors in the 2nd round of the championship is Dublin this game is fixed for the camogie grounds the Ragg but some doubt remains over the state of the pitch so it’s possible that game could be moved to another venue that will be confirmed later in the week and again it would be great to see a big Tipp support at the game.

Scores for Tipperary; Jean Kelly 1-01 Keely Linehan 0-03 Orla O’Dwyer 0-01 Sinead Meagher 1-01 Eibhlis McDonald 0-01 Grace O’Brien 0-05 & Ciardha Maher 0-01.

We couldn’t have picked a better location for our launch night the facilities in the Horse & Jockey Hotel were fantastic and the County Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom Egan & his staff for looking after us so well on the night, and for the refreshments of which there was no shortage. We had plenty of guest speakers, starting with Munster PRO Fiona Casey who travelled up from Kerry to be with us and we thank her sincerely for doing so and for a great speech, representing ladies football we had Chairperson Biddy Ryan and from the GAA it was great to see Tim Floyd and we thank them both for their support . We would also like to thank Seamie Morris & Jackie Cahill for being with us and also Noel Coonan who sent his apologies he couldn’t make it on the night, but showed his support by purchasing one of the first Golden Tickets. Our gratitude also must go to Conor Ryan & Paudie Grace from Acorn Life who were with us and also to Pat McCormack and his wife Mary who gave us a fantastic insight into their company Forever Living.
