West Minor Football:
There were two games in the Tipperary Print & Design West Minor A Football Championship on Wednesday night last. Rockwell/Rosegreen got their second win of the campaign when they defeated Aherlow Gaels in New Inn. In the other game Galtee/Golden have 2 wins from 2 games after defeating Emly/Treacys in Emly.
The semi-final pairings of the competition should be known by next weekend as the remaining 3 games in the group are scheduled to take place this week. On Tuesday night Galtee/Golden take on Rockwell/Rosegreen in Bansha at 7.15pm. On Thursday night May 7th Aherlow Gaels take on Galtee/Golden in Lattin at 7.15pm while in Annacarty at the same time Arravale Rovers/Eire Og take on Emly/Treacys.
Galtee/Golden, Arravale Rovers/Eire Og, Rockwell/Rosegreen are all level on 4 points each albeit Galtee/Golden have a game less played. Emly/Treacys follow in 4th place on 2 points. Aherlow Gaels prop up the table having yet to register a win in the competition.

The top four teams are now guaranteed semi-final spots with the last round of games to decide the pairings (as Aherlow Gaels can only finish at best level on points with Emly/Treacys and having lost the head to head between the sides they would remain in 5th spot in the group).
In the Pa Sheehy Butchers West Minor B Football Championship on Wednesday night last Cappawhite Gaels and Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams played out a draw while Cashel KC got the better of Clonoulty/R by the minimum in Cashel. The final group game between Cappawhite and Clonoulty/R will take place on Tuesday May 5th at 7.15pm in Cappawhite and the result can have an effect on all 4 teams in the group.
A draw will guarantee Cappawhite Gaels a place in the final and will see Clonoulty/R and Kickhams face each other in the semifinal.

A win for Cappawhite Gaels will also see them through to the final and would see Kickhams face Cashel KC in the semifinal (Cashel KC and Clonoulty/R would be level on points but as Cashel KC won the head to head they would finish ahead of Clonoulty/R in 3rd place)
A win for Clonoulty/R would see them through to the final and Cappawhite Gaels would face Kickhams in the semifinal.

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Credit Union West Intermediate Hurling Championship started on Monday last May 4th when Rockwell Rovers and Sean Treacys clashed in the preliminary round in Clonoulty. Rockwell Rovers got their first championship victory of the year defeating Sean Treacys by 0-17 to 0-15. Rockwell Rovers will now play Galtee Rovers in round 1 while Sean Treacys will now play in the semi final of the losers group along with the three 1st round losers.

The draw in full is:

West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The West Senior Hurling Championship will start the weekend of 16th/17th May with 2 games down for decision.
On Saturday May 16th Cappawhite take on Clonoulty/R in Dundrum at 7.15pm while the following day in Leahy Park in Cashel, Eire Og Annacarty Donohill take on Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams with a 3.15pm throw in. Both these games will have a 1st round Intermediate game as a curtain raiser.

West Junior B Hurling League:
On Tuesday last April 28th there were three games down for decision in the West Junior B Hurling League. In Group 1 Rosegreen defeated Cappawhite while Clonoulty/R defeated Solohead. Rosegreen now top the group with 4 points from two games while Cappawhite and Clonoulty/R occupy 2nd and 3rd spot respectively with 2 points each while Solohead prop up the table having yet to register a win.
In Group 2 Emly defeated Eire Og Annacarty Donohill while Sean Treacys and Cashel drew. Emly currently lead the group with 3 point from two games. Cashel KC are 2nd with 2 points from two games, while Sean Treacys are 3rd on 1 point and Eire Og Annacarty Donohill prop up the table on 0 points, although the last two teams have a game less played.
Another round of games is currently scheduled for Tuesday May 12th. More details next week.

County Senior Hurling Championship:
Only one club in the West was in action last weekend when Cappawhite and Portroe squared off in Newport in Group 4 of Roinn 2. Portroe coming out on top. Cappawhite now travel to Drombane to take on Silvermines with a 6.30pm throw on Sunday in a must win game. A failure to win, will mean they will be involved in the relegation unless they win the Division or County Championship.

On Saturday May 9th in Cahir Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Carrick Swans meet in Group 1 of Roinn 2. Kickhams will be looking for their 2nd win in a row in the group and a win will put them in with a chance of topping the group though that will depend on other results going their way.
On Sunday May 10th there is a Roinn 1 double header in The Ragg. In Group 3 Eire Og Annacarty Donohill meet Lorrha/Dorrha at 5pm. Following that Clonoulty/R take on Nenagh Eire Og in Group 1 at 6.30pm.
A win for Eire Og Annacarty will give them a strong chance of finishing in one of the top two spots in the group, though both Lorrha/Dorrha and Killenaule have a game less played in the group.
A draw will be enough for Clonoulty/R to top their group and qualify for the preliminary quarter finals against one of the group winners in Roinn 2.
Best of luck to all the teams involved.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
Round 3 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championship will take place next weekend May 9th/10th.

On Saturday night May 9th in Group 3 Cashel KC will be looking for their first victory in the competition at the 3rd attempt when they take on unbeaten Thurles Sarsfields. The game throws in at 6.30pm in Littleton.

Also on Saturday night there is an all West clash in Clonoulty as Sean Treacys and Golden/K meet in Group 4 at 7pm. The sides last met in the West semi-final last year when Golden/K advanced to the final.

On Sunday May 10th at 12 noon in Monroe in Group 1 Rockwell Rovers will be looking for their 1st win in this year’s competition when they take on Kilsheelan/K.

There is a double header in Cahir featuring two West teams. In Group 2 Lattin/Cullen Gaels take on Skeheenarinky with a 5pm throw in. Lattin/Cullen Gaels will be looking for their 2nd win in a row in this year’s competition when the face the 2014 Junior A Champions who have lost their opening 2 games in the group.
Following that game Galtee Rovers take on Moyle Rovers with a 6.30pm throw in.
Arravale Rovers make the short trip to Dundrum for a 6.30pm throw in against Holycross/B. when the sides met last year in the County Preliminary ¼ final it was the west side who advanced.

County Senior Football Championship
All four West teams are in action in Senior Football this week. All games throwing in at 7.30pm
On Tuesday night May 6th Eire Og Annacarty Donohill will go up against Killenaule in Group 1 in Cashel. When the sides met last season in the group stages it was the south side who came out on top. On Wednesday May 7th in Group 2 Aherlow Gaels clash with Moyle Rovers in Cahir. Both sides will be playing their first game in this year’s competition.

In Group 3 Arravale Rovers take on Moycarkey/Borris in Golden while Galtee Rovers take on Loughmore/C in Boherlahan. If both Arravale Rovers and Loughmore/C win on Wednesday night they are guaranteed at least a preliminary ¼ final spot with the winner of the clash between the two sides in the final round going into the ¼ finals. Wins for both Galtee Rovers and Moycarkey/B would see all 4 teams tied on 2 points going into the last round of games.

All Ireland U21 Football Championship:
Commiserations to the Tipperary U21 Football team and especially to our West representatives and manager Tommy Toomey who were narrowly defeated by Tyrone in the All Ireland U21 Final on Saturday last in Parnell Park. It was a very brave effort by the men in blue and gold for whom the future is very bright. West Tipperary is very proud of you.
