West U21 Football Championships:
Golden/Kilfeacle and Clonoulty/Rossmore will meet in the final of this year’s McGrath Oil West U21B Football championship following semi-final victories on St. Patricks Day.

Golden/Kilfeacle had a comfortable victory over last year’s finalists Cappawhite/Sean Treacys. Match Report

Clonoulty/Rossmore defeated Cashel King Cormacs by the bare minimum in the other semi-final. Match Report

The 30th McGrath Oil West U21B Football final will take place this Wednesday night March 23rd at 7.45pm in New Inn. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw. It will be the second meeting of the sides this season. When they met in the group phase of the competition it was Golden/Kilfeacle who recorded a comfortable victory. The winners will play Mid champions Moycarkey/Borris in the County semi-final.

Golden/Kilfeacle will be playing in their 8th final in the grade and their 1st since 2011 when they were defeated by Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams after extra time. They have won the competition on 4 previous occasions and last won the competition in 2007 when they defeated Rockwell Rovers in the final.

Clonoulty/Rossmore will be playing in their 5th final in the grade and their 1st since 2008 when they were defeated by Rockwell Rovers. They won their only title in the grade in 1997 when they defeated Lattin/Cullen in the final.
It will be just the second final meeting between the sides having last met in the final in 1993 in Cashel when Golden/Kilfeacle prevailed to win their first title in the grade.

The McGrath Oil West U21A Football final which was due to take place on Sunday last March 20th between Galtee/Emly and Arravale Rovers was postponed. The West Champions will play Mid champions Drom & Inch who defeated JK Brackens in the Mid Final on Sunday last.

Minor Football Championship:
The West Minor A and B Football Championships commence on Wednesday March 30th with round 2 taking place on April 6th. In round 1 of the A Championship, Clonoulty/Rossmore are at home to Arravale Rovers while defending champions Galtee/Golden are at home to Emly/Treacys.

In Group 1 of the B championship Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams are at home to Cappawhite Gaels while in Group 2 Eire Og Annacarty Donohill are at home to Rockwell/Rosegreen.

Abbey CBS:
Best of luck to the Abbey CBS who take on Saint Louis Grammer School Ballymena in the All Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior Hurling B Championship final on Easter Monday at 2:15pm in Semple Stadium. This game will precede the Croke cup final between Ard Scoil Ris and St. Kieran’s.

The Abbey CBS will be looking to bring home the Paddy Buggy cup for the 3rd time after previous successes in 1992 and 2002. They will be playing their first final since 2002 when they defeated Kilkenny side Castlecomer CBS 3-11 to 1-13 in Semple Stadium. Andrew Morrissey of Galtee Rovers captained the side on the day.

The 2002 title coming 10 years after their first title where they defeated Roscommon CBS in Tullamore on April 26th on a score-line of 4-8 to 1-7. Brian Lacey of Arravale Rovers was the winning captain. Match Preview
