West Tipperary GAA Scene – June 30th 2015

West Intermediate Hurling Championship:
The losers group final of the Tipperary Credit Union West Intermediate Hurling Championship will take place this Friday July 3rd when Lattin/Cullen Gaels take on Sean Treacys in Cappawhite with a 7.30pm throw in. Extra time will be played in the event of a draw. Both sides have recovered from defeats in round 1 – Lattin/Cullen/Gaels were defeated by Cashel King Cormacs while Sean Treacys were defeated by Rockwell Rovers. Lattin/Cullen Gaels had a comfortable victory over Arravale Rovers in the loser’s group semi-final while Sean Treacys gained revenge for their defeat by Rockwell Rovers in round 1 to defeat the latter in the other loser’s group semifinal.
The winners will join, Golden/K, Cashel KC and Galtee Rovers in the semifinals.

West Junior B Hurling Championship:
The Tipperary Co-Op Super Valu West Junior B Championship continued last weekend with just one game down for decision. Clonoulty/R got their first win of the campaign when they defeated Galtee Rovers. Link to match report https://goo.gl/OiGrk2.
On Saturday night in Group 1 Cashel KC and Rosegreen clash in New Inn at 7.30pm. Both sides have 100% records in this year’s competition after two games and the winner will be in a very strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.
In Group 2 this Sunday Sean Treacys will meet Lattin/Cullen in Cappawhite with a 12 noon throw in. Sean Treacys will be looking to get their third win a row having recovered from an opening round loss to Solohead. Lattin/Cullen will go in search of their first win of this year’s competition.

West Junior A Football Championship:
The AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship continued last weekend. In Group 2 Emly followed up their opening round victory over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams with a comfortable victory over Sean Treacys in Solohead on Saturday last. Link to Match report https://goo.gl/SvkvHA. Emly will take on Arravale Rovers on Saturday night next in Lattin with a 7.30pm throw in. Both sides are unbeaten in this year’s competition so far.
Also in Group 2 on Saturday night Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Golden/K meet in Bansha at 7.30pm. Both sides had contrasting results in round 1, Golden/K defeated Sean Treacys while Kickhams were defeated by Emly.

On Sunday last in Group 1 Solohead had a comfortable victory over Lattin/Cullen in Bansha, securing their first win in this year’s competition. Link to match report https://goo.gl/3rJYaE
This Sunday in Group 1 Cappawhite make their bow in this year’s competition when they take on Clonoulty/R in Dundrum with a 12 noon throw in. Clonoulty/R had a comfortable victory over Solohead in Round 1.

West Junior B Football Championship:
The Rea Clarke Hennessy West Junior B Football Championship resumes tonight when Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Emly meet in Emly with a 7.30pm throw in. The other group game between Rockwell Rovers and Cashel KC was called off. On Sunday in Solohead Galtee Rovers will take on Eire Og Annacarty Donohill at 12 noon.

County Senior Hurling Relegation
Cappawhite’s game with Holycross/B has now been rescheduled and will take place on Friday July 17th in Dundrum with a 7.30pm throw in. The losers of this game along with Boherlahan/Dualla who were defeated by Moyne/Templetuohy last Saturday.

County Senior Football Championship:
Arravale Rovers defeated Loughmore/C in Group 3 of the Clean Ireland Recycling County SFC and in the process qualified straight for the quarter finals. This is the fourth year in a row that Arravale Rovers have qualified for the County quarter finals although it is the first time since the new format was introduced in the competition they have topped their group. Loughmore/C will now go into the preliminary quarter final.
Liam McGrath gave Loughmore/C an early advantage when he goaled from a penalty. Donagh Leahy looked to have given Arravale Rovers a one point lead at the break when he goaled just before half time but a late Cian Hennessy point saw the sides go in level at the break.
Loughmore/C got an early advantage when Brian McGrath finished a well worked move to the back of the Arravale net. Arravale Rovers responded well with points from Bryan Lowry (who finished with five points in total) and James Hogan to go two points in front a lead they would not surrender as both sides traded points as they battled it out to the end with Arravale Rovers securing a two point victory.

On Saturday night Aherlow Gaels got their second win in this year’s competition when they defeated Dom/Inch in Cashel by five points.

Munster Minor Hurling Championship:
Well done to our West representatives and to the Tipperary Minor Hurling team and management who defeated Clare in Semple Stadium Thurles on Thursday night last.

Munster Minor Football Championship:
Best of luck to our West representatives and to the Tipperary Minor Football team and management who take on Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney on Sunday next July 5th with a 12 noon throw in.
