West U21 Football Championships: The McGrath Oil sponsored West U21A and B championships commenced on Sunday last.

Round 2 goes ahead this Sunday February 12th as Arravale Rovers take on Galtee Rovers in Golden at 11.30am. Arravale Rovers need just a draw to guarantee them a spot in this years final. A victory for Galtee Rovers will see the finalists decided by the last group game between Galtee Rovers and Golden/Kilfeacle.

The action continues this Sunday as the winners from Round 1 Cashel King Cormacs and Clonoulty/Rossmore meet in Clonoulty at 11.30am. A win for either side will put them in a strong position to reach this year’s decider. In Emly at 11.30am Emly/Treacys take on Rockwell/Rosegreen. With only one team coming out of the group this is a must win game for both teams to keep hopes of qualifying for the final alive.

This Sunday Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams travel to Lisvernane to take on Aherlow Gaels. A win for Kickhams will put them top of the group while a win for Aherlow Gaels will put them top with one game to play. In the other game Eire Og Annacarty Donohill will host Cappawhite Gaels in Annacarty. Eire Og must get something out of this game to try and remain in the hunt for a spot in the final while a win for Cappawhite Gaels will put them in a good position going into the final round of games.
All games throw in at 11.30am.
Third Level: There was further action in the Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups last week.
On Tuesday Mark Russell played for Carlow IT as they defeated IT Tralee to set up a Sigerson Cup quarter final with UCC this Wednesday February 8th. On Thursday Mark was also in action for the Carlow IT hurlers as they recovered from a half time deficit to earn a draw with Mary Immaculate College. Liam Fahy (Rockwell Rovers) was on the DCU team that was narrowly defeated by LIT while Sean Ryan (Sean Treacys) came on as a sub for LIT.
Tom Fox was on the WIT team which got back to winning ways against Trinity College Dublin.
Tipperary Football: Congratulations to Brian Fox (Eire Og Annacarty Donohill) who will captain the Tipperary Senior Footballers for the 2017 campaign.
