West U21 Hurling Championship:
Clonoulty/Rossmore and Cappawhite/Treacys will have to do it all again after they finished all square on Sunday last in the O’Dwyer Steel West U21A Hurling Final. Match Report
The game was moved to Cappawhite as Leahy Park in Cashel was unplayable. At the moment the replay is likely to take place on the weekend of Jan 2nd/3rd. The winners will play the South champions in the County Semi-final which is currently fixed for Saturday January 9th with a 1.30pm throw in.
The second of this year’s Ollies Bar West U21B Hurling championship semi-finals due to take place on Saturday last December 12th between Golden/Kilfeacle and Galtee/Emly was postponed due to an unplayable pitch. The game has been re-fixed for this Saturday December 26th in Bansha with a 12 noon throw in. Extra-time will be played if the sides are level after 60 minutes. Golden/Kilfeacle will be looking to get through to their second final in a row and their fourth in five seasons while Galtee/Emly will be looking to make it to a first final as a combination.
The winners will play Lattin/Cullen Gaels in the West Final. The winners of the West will play the South champions also on January 9th with a 1.30pm throw in.
County Junior B Football Championship:
Congratulations to Galtee Rovers who defeated Clonmel Commercials in the Clean Ireland Recycling County Junior B Football Championship Semi Final on Sunday last in Clonmel. The teams were again level after sixty minutes and for the second game in a row they went to extra-time with Galtee Rovers prevailing by four points. They will now meet Clonakenny in the County Final. The final has been fixed for Sunday January 3rd in Dundrum with a 1:30pm throw in.
Galtee Rovers will be playing in their first County final since 2007 and will be looking to win the title for just the second time in their history.
County Minor A Football Championship:
The long awaited County Minor A Football Championship semi-final between Galtee/Golden and Clonmel Commercials has been fixed for Tuesday December 29th in Cahir with a 1.30pm throw in. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw.
The winners will play either Newport Gaels or Drom-Inch who meet in the other semi-final. This year’s county final has been fixed for Saturday January 2nd in Lattin with a 1.30pm throw in. Extra-time will be played in the event of a draw.
Galtee/Golden won their 4th West Minor A Football title at the start of October when they defeated Arravale Eire Og in the final. They will be looking to make it third time lucky and get to a first County final as a combination having been beaten at the County semi-final stage in their previous two attempts in 1961 and 1962 (There was no County championship in 1952). They will also be looking to stop reigning champions Clonmel Commercials making it to a sixth final in a row.
