Munster U21 Football Championship
Congratulations to the Tipperary U21 Football team who defeated Dublin in the All Ireland U21 Semi Final on Saturday last and thus qualifying for their first ever All Ireland final in the grade. Congratulations to our West representatives and to manager Tommy Toomey. Tipperary now play Ulster champions Tyrone, who defeated Roscommon in the other semi final, in the All Ireland Final on Saturday week May 2nd in Páirc Tailteann in Navan at 6pm. The game will also be televised live on TG4.
Munster Minor Football:
Congratulations to the Tipperary Minor Footballers who defeated Waterford in Semple Stadium on Wednesday night last in the Munster Minor Football Championship quarter final. Well done to our West representatives. Tipperary now play the winners of Clare v Limerick or Waterford in the Munster semi final on 13th May.
Allianz National Hurling League Semi Final:
Commiserations to the Tipperary team and Management and our West representatives on their 1 point defeat to Waterford in the National Hurling League semi final on Sunday last in Nowlan Park Kilkenny.
West Minor Football:
On Thursday night last in The Tipperary Print and Design West Minor A Football Championship Arravale Rovers/Eire Og got their first win in the competition at the second attempt defeating Aherlow Gaels who were playing their first game in this year’s Championship. The Galtee Rovers/Golden/K v Rockwell Rovers/Rosegreen game was called off.
On Sunday night last Arravale Rovers/Eire Og climbed to the top of group with 4 points from 3 games following a 4-11 to 2-7 victory over Rockwell Rovers/Rosegreen.
There is one fixture for this Wednesday with Aherlow Gaels taking on Emly/Sean Treacys in Lattin at 7pm. Both teams will be looking for their first victory having both suffered defeat in Round 1.
In the Pa Sheehy Butchers West Minor B Football Championship on Thursday night last it was Clonoulty/R who were impressive winners over Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Clonoulty. On Tuesday night April 21st at 6.45pm in Cappawhite, Cappawhite Gaels take on Cashel KC in a re-arranged fixture.
West Junior B Hurling League:
The West Junior B Hurling League commenced last weekend with two group games taking place. Eight teams in total have entered the competition, which have been divided into two groups. The top team in both groups will contest the league final. This is the first year of the competition, following a motion by the Arravale Rovers GAA club to give games to teams before championship starts.
In Group 1 there were wins for Rosegreen and Cappawhite over Solohead and Clonoulty/R respectively. The two games in Group 2 will take place on Thursday night April 23rd. Cashel KC v Emly is for Cashel at 7pm while Eire Og Annacarty Donohill will take on Sean Treacys in Annacarty also with a 7pm throw in.
Referee’s:
Congratulations to West Tipperary referee Fergal Horgan who made the Championship Hurling Referee’s panel of 12 for 2015 for the second year in a row.

Best of luck to the Abbey CBS on Thursday April 23rd against Rathmore, Kerry in the Munster Post-Primary Schools Under 16 ½ B football final in Mallow, with a throw in time of 1pm.
Commiserations to the Abbey CBS in Corn Réamainn Uí hÓgáin Final (15 B Hurling) against Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG, going down by the bare minimum 1-12 to 0-14.
County Senior Hurling Championship:
Round 2 of the County Senior Hurling Championship takes place this weekend with three of our four West teams in action again.
In Group 1 of Roinn 2 Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams return to Boherlahan where they play last year’s County Intermediate Hurling champions Moyne/Templetuohy at 2pm on Saturday. Both sides will be looking for their first win of the campaign, Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams were defeated by JK Brackens while Moyne/Templetuohy drew with Carrick Swans in Round 1.
On Saturday evening in Cashel at 6.30pm in Group 3 of Roinn 1 Eire Og Annacarty Donohill come up against last year’s beaten County Finalists Loughmore/C. This will be a vital game as both sides were defeated in round 1. When the sides met in the group stages last year it was the mid side who came out on top by 2 points.
On Sunday at 3.30pm in the Ragg in Group 1 of Roinn 1, Clonoulty/R come up against Templederry/K’s. Both sides were victorious in Round 1, over Ballina and Nenagh Eire Og respectively. The sides also clashed in the group stages last year with Clonoulty/R just shading it by the minimum.
In Group 4 of Roinn 2 the game between Cappawhite and Portroe has been re-fixed for Monday May 4th in Newport with a 5pm throw in.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
Sean Treacy’s got their County Championship up and running on Saturday last when they took on Moycarkey/Borris. Unfortunately for the West side it was Moycarkey/Borris who came out on top by a margin of 5 points.
In Round 2 of the County Intermediate Championship 6 of the 7 West teams are again in action this weekend. Sean Treacys get the west teams up and running when they take on Ballinahinch in Dolla on Saturday at 5pm. Both sides will be looking for their first win with Ballinahinch drawing with Golden/K in round 1.
On Saturday evening in Bansha, at 6.30pm there is an all West clash when 2013 West Champions Arravale Rovers take on 2014 Champions Lattin/Cullen Gaels. Arravale Rovers will be hoping to make it two wins in a row while Lattin/Cullen Gaels will be hoping to get off the mark at the second attempt. The sides met 3 times in championship hurling last year with one win a piece and a draw between the sides. It will be the 5th meeting of the sides in three years with Arravale Rovers shading it by two victories to one.
In Dundrum at 6.30pm on Saturday evening Galtee Rovers come up against last year’s County finalists Thurles Sarsfields in Group 3. Both sides were victorious in round 1.
In Dundrum at 6.30pm on Sunday evening Rockwell Rovers and Newport clash in Group 1. Both sides had contrasting results in Round 1 with defeat to Drom and Inch and victory over Carrick Davins respectively. When the sides clashed last year it was the north side that came out on top.
In Group 3 Cashel KC take on Shannon Rovers at 6.30pm in Templetuohy. Both sides suffered defeats in Round 1 and a win will be vital for both sides to try and finish in the top 2 in the group.

County Senior Football Championship
The 1st round of the County Senior Football Championship starts this week. There has been s few amendments to the fixtures due to Tipperary qualifying for the All Ireland U21 Football Final. Tonights clash of Eire Og Annacarty Donohill and Kilsheelan/K in Cashel is now off. The game between Aherlow Gaels and Ardfinnan fixed for New Inn tomorrow night Wednesday has also been called off.
On Wednesday night in Dundrum at 7pm there is an all West clash between the 2013 West Champions Arravale Rovers and the 2014 West Champions Galtee Rovers. This will be the 13th meeting of the teams in the last 10 years with Galtee Rovers having 10 wins to Arravale Rovers 2. There has been one draw. It will be the first meeting of the sides in the County Championship since 2006 when the sides clashed in the second round. Galtee Rovers prevailed on that occasion by a margin of 3 points.
