West Tipperary GAA Scene – April 13th 2015

Munster U21 Football Championship:
Congratulations to the Tipperary U21 Football team who defeated Cork in the Munster U21 Final on Thursday last April 9th and winning the competition for a second time. Congratulations to our West representatives, Tommy Toomey (Manager), Josh Keane, Mark Russell, TJ Ryan, Ted Lowry and Pearse Richardson. Tipperary now play Leinster champions Dublin in the All Ireland Semi Final this coming Saturday April 18th at 4pm in Tullamore. The winners will play Roscommon or Tyrone in the All Ireland Final. Best of luck to our West representatives and to the Tipperary team and management.

Munster Minor Hurling:
Congratulations to the Tipperary Minor Hurlers who defeated Waterford in the Munster championship quarter final on Wednesday last April 8th in Semple Stadium. Well done to our West representatives Shane Neville (Lattin Cullen Gaels) and Enda Heffernan and Dillion Quirke (both Clonoulty/R). Tipperary now play Clare in the Munster semi final on July 1st in Semple Stadium.

Munster Minor Football:
Best of luck to the Tipperary Minor Footballers who take on Waterford in Semple Stadium on Wednesday night April 15th at 7pm.

Allianz National Hurling League Semi Final:
Best of luck to the Tipperary team and Management when they play Waterford in the National Hurling League semi final on Sunday next April 19th at 4pm in Nolan Park Kilkenny. Best of luck to our west representatives Sean Maher and Conor O’Brien

County U21 A & B Football Semi Finals 2015:
The County U21A and B semi finals, Galtee Rovers/Emly v Clonmel Commercials and Rockwell Rovers/Rosegreen v Ardfinnan were originally pencilled in for the 18th April but as Tipperary will be playing in the U21 Football All Ireland semi final against Dublin on the same day these games have been deferred to a provisional date of April 29th. This date will again though, depend on Tipp’s progress in the U21 football championship.

West Minor Football:
There was one game in The Tipperary Print and Design West Minor A Football Championship last week where Rockwell Rovers/Rosegreen defeated Emly/Sean Treacys. On Thursday next April 16th in The Tipperary Print and Design West Minor A Football Championship there is two games down for decision both starting at 6.45pm. Arravale Rovers/Eire Og take on Aherlow Gaels in Sean Treacy Park. Arravale Rovers/Eire Og were defeated by Golden/K / Galtee Rovers in Round 1 while Aherlow Gaels play their first game in this year’s competition. In Bansha, Galtee Rovers/Golden/K take on Rockwell Rovers/Rosegreen, both teams having recorded win’s in round 1.
There is also two games in the Pa Sheehy Butchers West Minor B Football Championship on Thursday night April 16th both starting at 6.45pm. Clonoulty/R take on Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Clonoulty while Cashel King Cormacs take on Cappawhite Gaels in Cashel.

Post Primary Schools.
Commiserations to Abbey CBS, Tipperary Town who were defeated by St. Mary’s Academy Carlow CBS in the Masita GAA All Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior B Football Final (Drummond Cup) on Saturday April 11th in Croke Park.
Best of luck to the Abbey CBS on Thuresday April 23rd against Rathmore, Kerry in the Munster Post-Primary Schools Under 16.5 B football final.

County Senior Hurling Championship:
All four West teams were in action last weekend in the group phase of the County Senior Hurling Championship.
In Boherlahan, Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams were defeated by JK Brackens in Group 1of Roinn 2. Following that it was Killenaule who were the victors in Group 3 of Roinn 1 as they overcame reigning West champions Eire Og Annacarty Donohill.

In Group 4 of Roinn 2 Cappawhite were beaten by the minimum by Moneygall while Clonoulty/Rossmore had a good victory over Ballina in Group 3 of Roinn 1. The next round of games in the senior Hurling Championship are fixed for weekend of 25th/26th April.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship:
It was also a busy weekend for our Intermediate clubs with all 7 clubs in action. Rockwell Rovers were defeated by Drom & Inch on Saturday night in Cashel. In the all West clash in New Inn on Sunday it was Galtee Rovers who emerged victorious over Cashel King Cormacs.
There was mixed fortunes for our West teams in Cahir where Arravale Rovers accounted for last year’s County Junior A champions Skeheenarinky while in the clash of last year’s West and South champions it was St Mary’s who came through over Lattin Cullen Gaels.
Last year’s beaten West and North finalists Golden/K and Ballinahinch couldn’t be separated thus sharing the points in Dundrum.
The county Intermediate hurling championship game Sean Treacys v Moycarkey Borris did not go ahead due to bereavement in Sean Treacys. The game has been re-fixed for Wednesday the 15th at 7pm in Dundrum.
The next round of games in the County Intermediate Hurling Championship is fixed for the weekend of the 25th/26th April.

County Senior Football Championship
The 1st round of the County Senior Football Championship is currently pencilled in for Wednesday 22nd April with all games starting at 7pm. All four West teams will be in action with an all west affair taking place in Dundrum as Galtee Rovers take on Arravale Rovers. Eire Og Annacarty Donohill take on Kilsheelan/K in Cashel and Aherlow Gaels will take on Ardfinnan in New Inn. More information next week.
