TIPPERARY INTERMEDIATE TEAM
Following a 3 week break from the Inter County scene, the Tipperary Ladies Footballers will return to action this weekend for their Tesco Homegrown NFL Round 6 game against Longford. This game is fixed for home club of Tipperary Captain, Barbara Ryan – Moyle Rovers GAA Club, Monroe at 2.00pm on Sunday 30th March. This promises to be a thrilling affair after a one point victory over Longford after extra time in their last meeting, the 2013 TG4 All Ireland Championship Quarter Final in Birr last August. All support for this game is welcome.
TIPPERARY U14 TEAM
Tipperary will compete against Waterford on this Wednesday 26th March in the Munster U14 B Championship in Fraher Field, Dungarvan at 7.00pm.
LYNCH CUP & O’CONNOR CUP
Queen’s University Belfast was the host venue for the Giles, Lynch & O’Connor Cups last weekend. The O’Connor Cup Winners, the University of Limerick included Tipperary Ladies Footballers Jennifer Grant (Intermediate), Siobhan Condon (Intermediate), Dara Walsh (Minor) and Maura Condon (Aherlow) in their ranks. Congratulations to Jennifer Grant (Brian Borus) on making the Higher Education College Ladies Football All Star team which was announced later that evening.
Tipperary had three players on the Cork Institute of Technology team who competed in the Lynch Cup. Hard luck to Gillian O’Brien (Intermediate), Claire Mullins (Aherlow) and Cliona O’Dwyer (Brian Borus) who were defeated by St Pats in the final – St Pats 1-5 CIT 0-7.
TESCO HOMEGROWN PPS SEMI FINAL
Congratulations to Colaiste dun Iascaigh, Cahir who defeated Presentation College, Athenry in the Tesco Homegrown All Ireland Post Primary School (PPS) Senior A Semi Final in Birr on Wednesday last on a score line of 2-12 to 1-10. Colaiste dun Iascaigh, Cahir will be the first Tipperary School to compete in an All Ireland Senior A Post Primary Schools Final.
Commiserations to Scoil Mhuire Carrick on Suir who lost the Tesco Homegrown All Ireland Post Primary Senior B Semi Final on Saturday last in St. Brendan’s Park, Birr – Glenamaddy CS, Galway 3-10 Scoil Mhuire Carrick on Suir 4-6.
On Saturday 29th March St. Brendan’s Park, Birr will host an attractive double header involving two Tipperary Post Primary Schools. The first match of the day at 1.00pm is Scoil Mhuire Carrick on Suir competing against Presentation College, Tuam in the Tesco Homegrown All Ireland Post Primary Junior C Semi Final. At 3.00pm Colaiste dun Iascaigh, Cahir will play Glenamaddy Community School in the All Ireland Junior A PPS Semi Final. Colaiste dun Iascaigh, Cahir previously won the All Ireland Junior A in 2012, another first for a Tipperary Post Primary School.
On March 20th Loreto Clonmel overcame St. Flannan’s in the Munster PPS Junior B Cup and now look forward to competing against Ballinamore, Leitrim in the All Ireland PPS Junior B Semi Final on Saturday March 29th at 1.00pm at a venue to be confirmed. MUNSTER PPS JUNIOR FINALS
There are still two Munster PPS Junior Finals to be decided and they are scheduled for Wednesday 26th March. St. Anne’s Tipperary will play Carrigaline CC in Glanworth at 12 noon and Scoil na Trinóide Naofa, Doon will play Colaiste Muire Ennis at 11.00am at a venue to be confirmed. TIPPERARY POST PRIMARY SCHOOL BLITZ
Due to the continued success of Tipperary’s Post Primary Schools Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football have decided to postpone their Post Primary Ladies Football Blitz until Thursday April 10th.
