TIPPERARY INTERMEDIATE TEAM
St. Brigid’s GAA Club, Kiltoom was the venue for Tipperary Ladies Football team’s second game in the Tesco Homegrown National Football League against hosts Roscommon. Conditions in Kiltoom were less than ideal as a lot of rain had fallen the evening before and on Sunday morning. The ground was soft and a strong breeze was blowing straight down the field.

Roscommon had the advantage of the wind in the first half but Tipperary were first on the score board with a point from Gillian O’Brien. Roscommon’s Jenny Downey added a point for them in the third minute while Siobhain Tully added another in the fifth minute. In the eighth minute Gillian O’Brien secured Tipperary’s lead when she scored a goal and in the following ten minutes the ball flowed freely from one half to another with a number of scoring chances not taken advantage of by Tipperary. Laura Fleming and Jenny Downey replied with points for Roscommon to bring the sides level after 25 minutes. In the final stages of the first half, Gillian O’Brien put Tipperary in front before a Jenny Downey point left the sides level at the interval, Tipperary 1-2 Roscommon 0-5

Tipperary had the aid of the strong breeze for the second half but it was Roscommon who gained the upper hand, playing a possession game. Within the first five minutes Roscommon had three points on the score board, Jenny Higgins (2) and Siobhain Tully (1). Tipperary were playing catch up from that point and although Aisling McCarthy and Laura Dillon added points for Tipperary, the final quarter of the game was dominated by Roscommon. They continued to possess the ball making very few errors and Siobhain Tully (2) and Jenny Downey (1) added a further three points to Roscommon’s score line making it a six point deficit. Full time result Roscommon 0-13 Tipperary 1-4
