Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes – 20th January 2014

MUNSTER POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS COMPETITION

On Saturday last history was made as the first ever Tipperary school, Colásite dun Iascaigh, Cahir claimed the Senior A Munster Post Primary Competition.

The other finals in the Munster Post Primary Schools competition are fast approaching and Tipperary Post Primary Schools are providing stiff competition with five other schools competing in the Senior Finals and six schools in the Junior Finals. Best wishes to all schools in the Finals:-

Senior A Cup Final – Winners Colásite dun Iascaigh, Cahir

Senior B Cup Final – Scoil Mhuire, Carrick on Suir v St Augustine’s on Wednesday January 22nd in Stradbally at 12noon

Senior C Plate Final – Scoil Tríonóide Naofa, Doon v Boherbue Comprehensive on Tuesday January 21st in Neville Park, Rathkeale at 12 noon

Senior D Plate Final – St Anne’s v Kinsale CS on Tuesday January 21st at 11.30am in a venue to be confirmed

Senior E Cup Final – CTI Clonmel v St Ailbe’s Tipperary, fixture details to be confirmed

 

Fixture details are to be confirmed for the Junior Finals:-

Junior A Cup Final – Colasite dun Iascaigh, Cahir v St Augustine’s

Junior B Cup Final – St Flannan’s v winner of Loreto Clonmel/Colaiste Choilm

Junior C Cup Final – Scoil Mhuire, Carrick on Suir v Ard Scoil nDeise on Saturday 1st Feb at 2.00pm in a venue to be confirmed.

Junior C Plate Final – Colaiste Muire Ennis v winner Doon/Pres. Clonmel

Junior D Cup – There are still games to be played but St Anne’s and Presentation Thurles are competing in this group.

Junior D Plate Final – Bantry v winner Our Lady’s Templemore/St Peters

Junior E Cup Final – St Angela’s v Scoil Pol

Junior E Plate (blitz) – Patrician Fethard, Comeragh College, Pres. Limerick, St Paul’s

 

JIM KENNEDY CUP FINAL

The Jim Kennedy Competition is a Munster Ladies Football Competition dedicated to Jim Kennedy, Clonmel, first president of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association. The Cup Finals were played on Sunday last in Neville Park, Rathkeale. In the Jim Kennedy Cup Plate Final Waterford overcame Mary Immaculate College on a score line of 2-11 to 0-13. In the Jim Kennedy Cup Final University of Limerick were victorious of UCC, Cork, UL 3-16 UCC 2-12. Congratulations to the Tipperary Ladies Football players who were on the University of Limerick team; Jennifer Grant (Brian Borus), Siobhan Condon (Aherlow), Maura Condon (Aherlow) and Dara Walsh (Clonmel Commercials). Other Tipperary players who represented their colleges are Kelly Hackett (Moycarkey Borris) for UCC and Claire Carroll (Galtee Rovers) for Mary Immaculate College. Well done to Michael Duffy (Arravale Rovers) who refereed the Cup Final.

POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS INTERPROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT

Best wishes Aisling McCarthy, Jacqui O’Gorman (Rockwell College), Laura Dillon (Coláiste dun Iascaigh) and Maeve O’Gorman (St. Ailbe’s) who will represent Munster in the PPS Interprovincial Tournament in St. Loman’s, Mullingar on Saturday, January 25th. Derry Peters (Tipperary) is the trainer of the team and Mairead O’Connor (St. Ailbe’s, Tipperary Town) is a selector. Munster have been successful in this tournament for the last two years and are hoping to get the third win in a row this year.

MOUTHGUARDS ARE MANDATORY

From January 1st, 2014 it is mandatory for all players in all age grades up to and including minor to wear mouth guards in all practice sessions and games. It will become the responsibility of each player to ensure that they are wearing mouth guards as failure to comply will result in the player being sent from the field until they satisfy the rules.

Players will not be covered under the injury fund if they are not wearing a mouth guard. For further details check out our website www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie

LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE

Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Association will host the two day Level 1 coaching course for Counties Tipperary and Limerick –

Day 1 – Saturday February 1st, 9.45am – 4.00pm

Day 2 Saturday March 29th, 9.45am – 4.00pm

Venue – Staker Wallace GAA Club, Martinstown, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick.

All attending the course must have completed the FUNdamentals Ladies Football coaching course and further details are available on the website www.tipperaryladiesfootball.ie

PRIMARY SCHOOL COACHING

Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Association are offering a coaching programme to Primary Schools in conjunction with their local Club. The coaching will be provided by the 2013 Tipperary Coach, Mr Derry Peters.
