All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final Replay
Kilkenny are All-Ireland hurling champions after two second-half goals from the Power brothers, Richie and John in the space of four minutes saw them beat Tipperary by three points in the final replay on Saturday evening at Croke Park. In another tremendous game between these two giants of the game, Tipperary led by two points at the interval courtesy of a goal by Seamus Callanan in the 29th minute set up by Lar Corbett. Kilkenny got off to a great start in the second period and had five points on the board without reply by the 43rd minute. Again Tipperary fought their way back into the game but goals by Richie & John Power in the space of four minutes proved decisive and although Tipperary kept going to the very end and were rewarded by a second goal by Seamus Callanan in the closing minutes it was to be Kilkenny’s day. We congratulate Kilkenny on their win and we must pay great credit to the Tipperary team including all the subs introduced on both days who gave their all to bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to Tipperary and indeed great credit must go to all the subs listed and to those not making the first 26 who played such a big part and put in so much work and effort over the past nine months in order to try to make the dream possible. Anyone close to the team knows how much time and effort and commitment all the players have put in and what an outstanding, honourable and great group of players we have representing our county. This group of players deserve to win an All Ireland and I have no doubt they will be back next year. They are outstanding role models for our young supporters to emulate and they have lifted the spirits of the county over the past couple of months. Thanks must also go to everyone in the backroom team for the long hours they have put in and for the sacrifices they have made over the past months and they deserve much praise and gratitude. Finally to Eamon, Michael and Paudie thank you for all the work, effort and commitment the three of ye have made to bring Tipperary back to the top again. The three of ye have given up nearly all of your personal time, in thinking and planning and doing all the other things involved in managing a county team. This can’t have be easy but it was done not for personal glory but for the good of Tipperary hurling and to bring Tipp back to the top again. No thanks is sufficient for the effort the three of ye have put in over the past nine months. We are blessed to have three outstanding men in charge of our senior team, three exceptionally talented and hard working men. Thanks again Eamon, Michael and Paudie.

The Tipperary senior management team, players and the County Board would like to express our sincere thanks to all our supporters who travelled to Croke Park last Saturday to support the team and indeed to everyone who supported the team throughout the year. Your support has been fantastic and has been appreciated very much. Thanks to all our fans in the county for displaying flags, banners, bunting etc on their homes, businesses, schools etc and for wearing the blue and gold colours in the lead up to the All Ireland final and replay. It really turned the county into a festive occasion for both weekends and for the past few weeks. Many thanks to our local Radio Stations for all their help, assistance and support in so many ways over the past few weeks. Thanks also to our local papers for giving so much coverage to the game in the lead up to the final and the replay. Thanks to the organising committee headed by Michael Bourke, Vice–Chairman of the County Board and to all who were involved in making the team’s homecoming such a great success. Thanks to Tipp FM and to all the entertainers who entertained the large crowds at the homecoming. Finally thanks again to our supporters who turned out in such large crowds for the homecoming and to all our supporters who have been magnificent in their support for the team and who supported so well all the fundraising activities held by the County Board and Tipperary Supporters Club over the last few weeks which were needed to help to finance the preparations and costs associated with preparing the team.
All-Ireland Post Match Reception
Our thanks to the Tipperary Association Dublin and to Tipperary Supporters Club who joined forces for the arrangements for the All Ireland Post Match Reception which was held in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin. A huge crowd attended the Post Match Reception and everyone present had a great night and our thanks again to the Tipperary Association Dublin and to the Tipperary Supporters Club for all the work and effort they put in over the past few weeks in organising the reception.
All Ireland Hurling Final Replay – Live on Etihad at 30,000ft
Last Saturday the All Ireland Hurling Championship Final Replay was screened live on Etihad Airways’ E-BOX in-flight entertainment systems, powered by Panasonic, on its widebody aircraft equipped with Live TV, allowing every passenger in every cabin to watch the thrilling climax to the season. The drawn Final on Sunday, 7 September was the first time the match had ever been screened on a commercial flight.
Divisional Finals in Senior Hurling Championship
It is back to club action for our county players this weekend with the three remaining Divisional Finals taking place. There are some fantastic games in store for patrons and a full house is expected at all the venues. In the South Killenaule a team tipped by many as potential county champions face Mullinahone in what should be a cracker of a game, and one to really look forward too. In the West Eire Og Annacarty and Clonoulty Rossmore both of whom had emphatic wins in their respective semi–finals meet again in this year’s final. Up to last year Clonoulty had ruled the West division for years and there seemed little reason to anticipate a shock. Yet Annacarty, after a slow start, came back with a string of goals and parity in points to win the title. Finally in the Mid division Drom & Inch the champions who defeated Thurles Sarsfields in the semi-final with a great display of powerful hurling defend their crown against a very impressive Upperchurch–Drombane team who beat the county champions Loughmore–Castleiney in extra–time in their semi-final clash. What a game in store here and can Upperchurch win their first ever Mid title. Best of luck to all teams.
Mouthguard
As the football season begins schools are reminded of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Both boys and girls playing in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic football fixtures must wear mouthguards without exception at all times. It would be advised that schools would also use mouthguards when training to allow children to get used to using them and to follow best practice.

A major fundraising drive continues with another monster bingo planned for Sunday October 12th in the Dome, Semple Stadium commencing at 3pm. The event which is set to attract another massive crowd to the Dome has a very attractive prize fund of almost 8,000 euro. Tipperary football has made tremendous strides in 2014 and your support for the event would be very much appreciated.

The official launch of the 2014/2015 Tipperary Post Primary Schools G.A.A. Competitions.
will be held in Lár na Pairce, Thurles, at 8:30pm on Thursday October 2nd, 2014. On the night, details and dates for all competitions will be presented, along with the new “Twitter” account for Tipperary P.P. schools. There will be a presentation on “Player Welfare” by Tipperary County Board. Teachers and Gamesmasters are asked to bring two players with their school jersey for the photocall for competitions and to bring any relevant personnel from their school G.A.A. community.
