COUNTY FIXTURES
A busy weekend of finals across the Premier County culminated with the Clean Ireland Recycling Senior Hurling County Final last Sunday in Semple Stadium between Thurles Sarsfields and Nenagh Éire Óg. In securing a narrow one point victory Thurles Sarsfields ensured the Dan Breen Cup would reside in the Cathedral town for another twelve months following their 1-18 to 3-11win over Nenagh Éire Óg before an attendance of 5,606 patrons. Congratulations therefore to Thurles Sarsfields on securing their 34th title and their first back to back success since last achieved in 2009 and 2010. As Mid champions also, Sarsfields took the direct route to the title this year as captain Padraic Maher collected the famous cup from County Board Chairman Michael Bourke. The prize for Thurels Sarsfields now is a Munster Club Championship Semi-Final against Na Piarsaigh of Limerick on November 8th next in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick. Congratulations also to Stephen Cahill who was named Man of the Match (sponsored by John Quirke Jewellers, Cahir) for the second year in a row, a tremendous achievement indeed for Stephen.

The Clean Ireland Recycling Intermediate Hurling Final epitomised the spirit of the GAA as a superb final went right down to the wire with Clonakenny eventually breaking Thurles Sarsfields hearts by bridging a forty eight year gap to claim the Jacksie Ryan Cup 2-13 to 3-9 also in Semple Stadium on Sunday. In a thrilling finish to the match Clonakenny supporters erupted with joy on hearing the final whistle as they acclaimed their heroes who now join the senior ranks for 2016. It was heartbreak again for Sarsfields as they were also on the reverse side of the result last year too.

John Devane County Board Vice Chairman presented Clonakenny captain Bobby Bergin with the Jacksie Ryan Cup while John Costigan received the Man of the Match Award again sponsored by John Quirke Jewellers.

Congratulations to Clonmel Commercials who added a second county title to their honours list in seven days as the claimed the Clean Ireland Recycling U21A Football Crown following the extra time win over Loughmore Castleiney in Golden last Saturday with the result reading 0-16 to 2-8 in their favour.
