Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
Another busy weekend in the Clean Ireland Recycling Senior Hurling Championship with quarter-final games on in Semple Stadium last Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we had the meeting of South champions Mullinahone and Kildangan and county champions Loughmore-Castleiney and Clonoulty–Rossmore. Mullinahone who had a great win over Killenaule in both the South final and in the last 16 game kept up their good run by defeating Kildangan by one point in extra time, 3-17 to 3-16 courtesy of two goals by Eoin Kelly who finished the day with 2-7. County champions Loughmore had a difficult game against Clonoulty who led by one point at the break 2-5 to 0-10. Timmy Hammersley and John O’Neill netted first-half goals for Clonoulty Rossmore. But Loughmore-Castleiney upped their game after the resumption and finished up as narrow 0-17 to 2-10 winners. Goalkeeper Shane Nolan came to their rescue with a fine double save in stoppage time.
On Sunday we had another very attractive programme with the meeting of Burgess and Templederry Kenyons in the first game and Thurles Sarsfields and Nenagh Eire Og in the second game which was viewed by many as the tie of the round. Templederry had a great win over Burgess defeating them by 0-24 to 0-17 to progress to the semi–finals and on this form will be difficult to beat. The game of the round between Sarsfields and Nenagh took a while to get going but it did not disappoint after the break and with little between both sides throughout the hour it ended level and it took a late free from Aidan McCormack in extra –time to win the game for Sarsfields by 0-20 to 0-19.
Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary SH Championship Semi–Final Draw
The draw for the semi –finals took place after the Thurles Sarsfields and Nenagh Eire Og game last Sunday and the semi-finals will take place in Semple Stadium next Sunday October 26th. The pairings are –
Thurles Sarsfields v Templederry Kenyons at 2pm
Loughmore-Casteiney v Mullinahone at 3.30pm

The Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final will take place on Sunday November 2nd at Semple Stadium Thurles.
Clean Ireland Recycling County IH Championship Preliminary Quarter Finals
The four quarter–finals games were played at different venues. In Boherlahan, Clonakenny defeated Moyle Rovers by 2-20 to 1-7. Moyne-Templetuohy who were defeated in the Mid Final took on Newport in Templederry and came out winners by 0-17 to 0-11. Dundrum hosted the visit of Mid Champions Thurles Sarsfields and Arravale Rovers and Sarsfields advanced to the semi-final winning the game by 1-15 to 0-8 and in the final game played in Cahir, St Mary’s Clonmel had a narrow win over Galtee Rovers / St Pecaun by 0-12 to 1-8.

Clean Ireland Recycling County Junior A Football Championship
Two games were played in the Clean Ireland County Junior A Football Championship with wins for Loughmore–Castleiney over St Patricks by 2-11 to 2-10 and who now advance to the semi-final. We had one semi-final game at the weekend between Inane Rovers and Ballingarry with Inane Rovers coming out on top by 4-11 to 1-5.
Munster Under 17 Football Competition
Well done to Tipperary who defeated Waterford by 3-15 to 0-6 in Round 2 of the Munster Under 17 Football competition on Monday October 13th at Dr. Morris Park Thurles.
1964 & 1965 Teams Remembered
The Tipperary All-Ireland senior hurling champions of 1964 and 1965 will be honoured at Semple Stadium on October 26 in conjunction with the county senior hurling semi-finals. This is the fiftieth anniversary of the achievement of the 1964 team and since many of the players featured on the 1965 team also, it was decided to honour the two teams simultaneously. This group of players were, arguably, the greatest hurling force that ever fielded for the county. During the two years they played 24 games in league, championship and Oireachtas, winning 21, drawing 1 and losing 2. The average score for the 24 games was 4 goals and 13 points and against was 2 goals and 7 points! Them were the days! The Tipperary county board will honour the players with a reception in the Dome before the semi-finals. They will be introduced over the public address system to the attendance between the games and, in conjunction with the Templemore Arms Hotel, they will be guests at a dinner after the games. The full list of players involved was as follows: Michael Murphy (Capt. 1964), Jimmy Doyle (Capt. 1965), Mick Burns, Kieran Carey, Liam Devaney, John Dillon, John Doyle, Paddy Doyle, Theo English, Len Gaynor, Michael ‘Babs’ Keating, Larry Kiely, Michael Lonergan, Seamus Mackey, Michael Maher, John ‘Mackey’ McKenna, Sean McLoughlin, Donie Nealon, John O’Donoghue, Noel O’Gorman, Peter O’Sullivan, Mick Roche, Pat Ryan, Tom Ryan, Tony Wall.
2015 TIPPERARY GAA YEARBOOK
A reminder to all clubs in the county that the 2015 Tipperary GAA Yearbook is being compiled at present and the Yearbook committee is seeking articles and information for inclusion. Clubs that have accomplished any unique achievement in 2014 such as winning a major title for the first time, achieving a double, opening new dressing rooms or a new grounds, etc are requested to send through an appropriate article for inclusion. The Yearbook committee are looking to all clubs to submit any obituaries of their deceased members in the last 12 months. The maximum number of words for an obituary is 150 and please include the club name and the years also, e.g. 1935-2014, as well as his/her G.A.A. achievements and a photograph of the deceased person. The deadline for sending information is 1st November . Hurling/Shinty International Series First Test
Tipperary senior star Patrick ‘Bonner Maher was a member of Ireland’s Hurling/Shinty team that lost to Scotland in last Saturday’s first Test of the 2014 Hurling/Shinty International Series in Inverness. The second test takes place next Saturday in Páirc Esler, Newry at 5:00pm.

The South Senior Board A.G.M. will take place on Sunday the 30th of November in the GAA Centre in Clonmel at 6pm.
Study reveals GAA’s danger time for Injuries
Injuries among school and collegiate GAA players are much more likely to occur at the start and end of the calendar year, a study has found. The research showed that injuries occurred more frequently at the beginning of the calendar year, fell significantly over the summer, and rose again towards the end of the year. The research which was part of an effort to establish the incidence of injury in adolescent and collegiate players also revealed that hip, groin and thigh injuries were the most common found, during a year-long study involving more than 600 participants. The study aims to pave the way for preventative strategies for injuries.
Mouthguards
As the football season begins we remind schools of the importance of mouthguards for all children participating in Cumann na mBunscol matches. Both boys and girls playing in Tipperary Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic football fixtures must wear mouthguards without exception at all times. It would be advised that schools would also use mouthguards when training to allow children to get used to using them and to follow best practice.

A review of scholarships will take place shortly. All recipients of Scholarships in 2014 are requested to complete the review and return to Lár na Pairce as soon as possible. Cabhróidh sé go mór linn athbhreithniú a dhéanamh ar an gCóras mar atá.
Camogie County Finals
Congratulations to Burgess/Duharra who won their third senior camogie county title in a row by defeating Drom & Inch in front of a very large crowd in the county camogie grounds at the Ragg. In the Intermediate camogie county final last years defeated finalists Borris-Ileigh defeated Drom & Inch and will now join the senior ranks next year. Congratulations to Borris-Ileigh and best of luck in the senior championship next year. Commiserations to Drom & Inch who lost both finals but no doubt they will be back next year.
Ursuline Secondary School are Camogie ALL-IRELAND 7-ASIDE Champions
Congratulations to the Ursuline Secondary School in Thurles U16 Camogie team who were crowned Munster champions recently and then went on to win the All Ireland 7-Aside championship. Well done to the team and their coach Olivia Hogan on a great achievement
Ladies Gaelic Football – Congrats to Aishling
Congratulations to Aishling Moloney, Cahir who was named the Munster Young Player of the Year for 2014. This is a wonderful achievement by Aishling who is a member of the Tipperary Ladies Football Under 16 and Minor Teams who both claimed All Ireland victories this year.
Tipperary Ladies Football 40th Anniversary
Congratulations to Tipperary Ladies Football who are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year. As part of the celebrations the 1974 & 1975 Tipperary All Ireland winning teams were celebrated in the Horse & Jockey Hotel on Saturday October 18th.
