COUNTY FIXTURES
The scene is set for what promises to be a most intriguing day as we look forward to the Clean Ireland Recycling Senior and Intermediate Hurling County Finals next Sunday, October 25th, in Semple Stadium.
The main event which is for the Dan Breen Cup between Nenagh Éire Óg and Thurles Sarsfields throws in at 3:15pm while the Intermediate Final between Clonakenny and Thurles Sarsfields throws in at 1pm.
Thurles Sarsfields will be banking on their vast experience to make it back to back senior titles as they seek to add to their impressive haul of 33 county titles while Nenagh Éire Óg will have a huge say in affairs on Sunday as they bid to bring Dan Breen back to their home town for only the second time, the only other occasion being back in 1995.
In the Intermediate Hurling Final the Mid pairing of Thurles Sarsfields and Clonakenny will certainly make for a mouth-watering opener to the day. Sarsfields are there after steering a safe passage through their semi-final defeating Ballinahinch 1-22 to 2-15. It is another great achievement for the Thurles club as they hope to go one better than last year when they contested both finals, losing the intermediate final to Moyne Templetuohy. Clonakenny on the other hand are aiming for senior status and will be fully focused on emulating the historic club side of 1967 when they won the County Intermediate title by defeating Kilsheelan 8-6 to 2-2.
Both stands will be open for next Sunday’s finals. Admission is €15 with €5 concession at stile 1 Old Stand and at stile 52 New Stand with valid photo id. Tickets can be purchased at each of the four booths around the vicinity of Semple Stadium.
Congratulations to Clonmel Commercials on their narrow one point victory over Moyle Rovers 1-12 to 3-5 in the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Football Final in Semple Stadium last Sunday. Though conditions had deteriorated by the time throw in came round both sides contributed to a terrific game of football played in a tremendous manner.
County Football Board Chairman Joe Hannigan presented Commercials captain Kevin Harney with the O’Dwyer Cup as Commercials claimed their sixteenth title while his team mate and centre back Seamus Kennedy collected the Man of the Match Award sponsored by John Quirke Jewellers, Cahir.
Congratulations to Roscrea as they won the Clean Ireland Recycling Junior ‘A’ Hurling County Final with a two point victory over Clonoulty Rossmore 1-17 to 2-12 in the Ragg last Saturday.
Loughmore Castleiney booked their place in the final of the Clean Ireland Recycling Minor ‘B’ Hurling County Final following their 0-19 to 2-3 victory over Borrisokane last Saturday. The other semi-final takes place this Saturday October 24th between Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams and Grangemockler Ballyneale in Leahy Park, Cashel at 3pm.
In the Clean Ireland Recycling County Intermediate Football Championship Final Upperchurch-Drombane meet Clonmel Óg in New Inn also this Saturday October 24th at 3pm. Golden Kilfeacle already through to the Clean Ireland Recycling County Junior ‘A’ Football County Final now know they will meet Emly who overcame Gortnahoe Glengoole 0-14 to 1-8 last Saturday in Golden. The final takes place this Sunday, October 25th in Lattin at 12pm.
The first of this weekend’s finals takes place at 1pm this Saturday October 24th when Clonmel Commercials meet Loughmore Castleiney in the Clean Ireland Recycling Under 21 ’A’ County Football Final in Golden.
In Littleton at 7pm on Saturday evening next October 24th, Clonoulty Rossmore meet Ardfinnan in the semi-final of the Clean Ireland Recycling Minor ‘B’ County Football Championship.
The other final down for decision this weekend is the County Adult Football League Divison 2 Final between Ballylooby Castlegrace and Newcastle which takes place on Sunday, October 25th in Ardfinnan at 12pm.

HOLYCROSS BALLYCAHILL 1990 SILVER JUBILLEE TEAM
County Tipperary G.A.A. Board in association with the Tipperary Star and O’Gorman’s Bar and Restaurant, Bohernacrusha will honour the Holycross-Ballycahill senior hurling team of 1990, which brought honour and glory to the parish when they won the county championship, next Sunday on the occasion of the county final.
Twenty-five years on the players will be hosted at a reception in the Dome before the final. They will be guests of the County Board in the VIP section of Semple Stadium for the match and introduced to the crowd at half-time. After wards they will be guests at a dinner in O’Gorman’s of Bohernacrusha, where they will receive a memento of the occasion.

MUNSTER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
As the Tipperary County Championships come to a close, the Premier County will see its representatives go forward into Provincial action as the AIB Munster Club Championships get underway with the first three games this weekend, albeit with no Tipperary involvement. The winners of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Final on Sunday (Thurles Sarsfields or Nenagh Éire Óg) will play the winners of this Sunday’s meeting of Sixmilebridge (Clare) and Na Piarsaigh (Limerick). That game is fixed for a Tipperary venue if Sixmilebridge win or a Limerick venue if Na Piarsaigh are successful, with the fixture to take place on November 8th. The recently crowed Tipperary Senior Football champions Clonmel Commercials will host Newcastlewest (Limerick) in the Munster Quarter-Final on Sunday week November 1st in Clonmel Sportsfield.
In the Intermediate ranks, Clonakenny will represent Tipperary in the Munster Intermediate Hurling Quarter-Final and they will take on the Waterford champions Modeligo or Portlaw on the weekend of November 1st at a Tipperary venue. In Intermediate Football, the winners of this weekend’s county final between Clonmel Óg and Upperchurch-Drombane will play Kerry’s St. Mary’s at a Tipperary venue on the weekend of November 8th.
Finally, in the Junior competitions, Ballylooby-Castlegrace are the Tipperary representatives in the Munster Club Junior Hurling Championship Quarter-Final with a trip to play the Clare representatives on the weekend of November 1st at a Clare venue. In the Junior Football, the winner of the County Final between Golden Kilfeacle and Emly will play the Cork representatives on the weekend of November 8th at a Tipperary venue. Best of luck to all of the Tipperary clubs in their endeavours to bring home Provincial honours.
MUNSTER UNDER 17 FOOTBALL
Tipperary defeated Limerick by 3-7 to 1-8 in the Munster Under 17 Football competition on Monday October 19th at in Dr. Morris Park Thurles. Tipperary led by 1-2 to 0-4 at the interval before going on to score two further goals in the second half to take a nine point lead. A late Limerick penalty goal brought the Shannonsiders back to within five points at the final whistle. Tipperary will now play Clare in the Daryl Darcy Cup Final next Monday night in Limerick.

2016 TIPPERARY GAA YEARBOOK
The 2016 Tipperary GAA Yearbook is being compiled at present and the Yearbook committee is seeking articles and information for inclusion. Clubs that have accomplished any unique achievement in 2015 such as winning a major title for the first time, achieving a double, opening new dressing rooms or a new grounds, etc. are requested to send through an appropriate article for inclusion.
The Yearbook committee are looking to all clubs to submit any obituaries of their deceased members in the last 12 months. The maximum number of words for an obituary is 150 and please include the club name and the years also, e.g. 1935-2015, as well as his/her G.A.A. achievements and a photograph of the deceased person.
The deadline for sending information in is November 1st next. Please e-mail information and photographs which must be named to John Smith, Secretary Tipperary Yearbook Committee at yearbook.tipperary@gaa.ie. DEAN RYAN CUP HURLING
Well done to the High School Clonmel who qualified for the semi-final of the Dean Ryan Cup Under 16.5 A Hurling competition courtesy of a 1-18 to 2-12 victory over St. Flannans on Friday last. The Clonmel School will now play De La Salle Waterford in the semi-final fixed for this Thursday October 22nd at 1:30pm in Walsh Park Waterford (note change of date, time and venue from the original fixture). The winners will play holders Midleton CBS or Ard Scoil Ris Limerick in the Final.
CORN UI MHUIRI FOOTBALL
The Munster GAA Post Primary Schools Under 18.5 A Football competition known as the Corn Uí Mhuirí will get underway this week with two Tipperary schools involved for the first time in many years. On this Tuesday October 20th, Abbey CBS take on St. Brendan’s Killarney in Mallow while on Wednesday October 21st, the High School Clonmel play IS Killorglin in Ballyhea – both games have 1:30pm throw-in times. Best of luck to both schools.
LADIES FOOTBALL
Commiserations to Cappawhite who were defeated by Comeragh Rangers in the Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Senior Plate Final on Sunday last, however there was much better news on intermediate and junior fronts. Congratulations to Cahir who were crowned the Munster Intermediate Club Champions following their win over Fermoy on a score-line of Cahir 4-14 Fermoy 2-10. Meanwhile in the Munster Junior Ladies Football Championship Final Templemore and Bantry Blues will have to meet again as both sides played out a thrilling draw finishing 1-10 apiece.
HANDBALL
Ballina & Lahorna hosted the All-Ireland Boys and Girls Semi-Finals between Munster v Connaught last Sunday where Tipperary players continued to impress. There was wins for Boys U16S, U16D, U17D, and Girls U16S, U17S. Tipperary players are also through to All Ireland Finals are Girls U15D and Boys U15D, well done to all and best wishes in the All-Ireland Finals. This Sunday, October 25th, Tipperary players will contest three of the adult singles All Ireland Finals in Dungarvan , so again best wishes here to David Tobin from Carrick-On-Suir, Billy Mullins from Clonmel and David Moloney from Cashel as they carry the Tipp colours into action this weekend.

The Annual G.A.A. Memorabilia Fair will be held on Sunday, December 6th, from 12-4pm in Thurles Sarsfields Social Centre and will give customers a chance to browse and search a large selection of match programs, club histories, hurling,, football, camogie and handball publications as well as other G.A.A. material. In the pleasant and spacious surroundings of Thurles Sarsfields G.A.A. Centre collectors and sellers are cordially invited to attend this event where it is hoped they will find plenty to interest them. Admission will be €3 with accompanied children free.
