Munster GAA Senior Championship Draws 2015
Tipperary will play the winners of Clare and Limerick in the 2015 Munster Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final, a game which will be played at the Gaelic Grounds Limerick. Waterford will play Cork in the other semi-final.
In Football, Tipperary will play Waterford in the 2015 Munster Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final with the winners playing Kerry. In the other side of the draw, Cork will play the winners of Clare and Limerick.
GAA GPA All-Stars 2014 Nominations
Tipperary received 11 nominations for the GAA GPA Hurling All–Stars for 2014 and one in football. In hurling the Tipperary nominations were Darren Gleeson (Portroe), Cathal Barrett (Holycross-Ballycahill), Paddy Stapleton (Borris-Ileigh), Kieran Bergin (Killenaule), Brendan Maher (Borris-Ileigh), Padraic Maher (Thurles Sarsfields), Shane McGrath (Ballinahinch), John O’Dwyer (Killenaule), Noel McGrath (Loughmore-Castleiney), Patrick Maher (Lorrha) and Seamus Callanan (Drom & Inch). Seamus Callanan has been nominated for Hurler of the Year and Cathal Barrett is nominated for Young Hurler of the Year.
In Football, Colin O’Riordan (JK Brackens) received a nomination in the half-back line. Colin made his Championship debut at right half-back versus Limerick in the 2014 Munster Senior Football Championship. The shortlist of nominees was selected by GAA journalists and the awards for the successful 15 candidates, along with the Player of the Year awards, will be made at the All-Star banquet on October 24 in Dublin. Congratulations to all our players who have been nominated for All Star Awards.
Bord Gáis Energy U21 Team of the Year.
Congratulations to Cathal Barrett (Holycross- Ballycahill) and to Jason Forde (Silvermines) who have been selected on the Bord Gáis Energy U21 Team of the Year. Cathal has been picked at right corner back and Jason at right corner forward. There are seven players from All-Ireland champions Clare, five from runners-up Wexford, two from Tipp and one from Galway making up the final fifteen. All winning recipients of the Bord Gáis Energy Team of the Year received their awards at a ceremony in Croke Park on Saturday, 11th of October. The awards were televised live on TG4.
Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
Another busy weekend between championship games in senior, intermediate and junior hurling. The draw for the Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship last 16 had some interesting pairings with the South and West divisional finalists meeting again and the draw of the round was the meeting of Drom & Inch and Thurles Sarsfields. The only game down for last Saturday was the meeting of Eire Og Annacarty and Clonoulty-Rossmore and the big question here was could Annacarty beat their arch rivals for the second time in a week. Not so was the answer as Clonoulty ran out winners by 3-18 to 1-17.
On Sunday county champions Loughmore–Castleiney who defeated Toomevara last time out had a big win over Ballina in Toomevara defeating them by 4-27 to 1-10. In the second game in Toomevara North finalists Burgess who very nearly won the North Final the first day out against Nenagh Eire Og had a one point victory over Borris-Ileigh. In MacDonagh Park, Nenagh was the double header between Kildangan and Lorrha with Kildangan coming out on top by 3-22 to 2-21and in the second game newly crowned North champions Nenagh Eire Og defeated Kilruane MacDonaghs by 2-14 to 2-8.
Semple Stadium hosted the double header between Moycarkey–Borris and Templederry Kenyons with Templederry advancing to the quarter–finals defeating Moycarkey by 2-19 to 1-17. Next up was the meeting of two of the favourites for the county title Thurles Sarsfields and Mid champions Drom & Inch and in a very close game throughout Sarsfields advanced to the quarter-finals over 14 man Drom who had a player sent off in the first half with the final score Sarsfields 3-17 Drom 1-20.
In Clonmel Sportsfield Mullinahone South champions were hoping to beat Killenaule for the second week in-a-row and again they made no mistake this time winning the game by 1-18 to 0-13.

Clean Ireland Recycling County IH Championship Preliminary Quarter Finals
The preliminary quarter –finals of the Clean Ireland Intermediate Hurling championship were also played last weekend and there were wins for Arravale Rovers over Holycross–Ballycahill, St. Mary‘s Clonmel beat Rockwell Rovers, both of these games were played in Cashel. Newport advanced to the next round defeating Lattin–Cullen Gaels and Moyle Rovers defeated Ballinahinch.

Special Price Ticket for Weekend Championship Games
With plenty of action with both the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior & Intermediate hurling championship games on at the weekend and also the county Junior A football championship games patrons are advised of a Special Price Ticket from the County Board.
Patrons can purchase a ticket €25 for adult, €15 for student / OAP which will give admission to all County Championship matches over the weekend. This is fantastic value as gate charges for Saturday & Sunday games in Semple Stadium on their own are €15 & €10 students OAP.
The ticket can be bought in advance from Lar na Pairce or from the gate checker prior to entry at all grounds on Saturday. This is fantastic value for what promises to be a great weekend of championship games in the county.
Clean Ireland Recycling County JH Championship Semi-Finals
Holycross was the venue for this year’s Junior A county championship semi-finals in hurling. The first game on the programme was the meeting of Nenagh Eire Og and St Patricks. In the quarter–finals Nenagh had a big win over Knockavilla–Kickhams and St Patricks were impressive in their quarter-final win over Drom–Inch. Nenagh made it a great weekend for the club by advancing to the final. In the second semi-final Kildangan who had to go to extra-time to beat Clonoulty–Rossmore in the quarter-finals played Skeheenarinky who defeated Thurles Sarsfields and again in a very close encounter Skeheenarinky advanced to the final.

2015 TIPPERARY GAA YEARBOOK
The 2015 Tipperary GAA Yearbook is being compiled at present and the Yearbook committee is seeking articles and information for inclusion. Clubs that have accomplished any unique achievement in 2014 such as winning a major title for the first time, achieving a double, opening new dressing rooms or a new grounds, etc are requested to send through an appropriate article for inclusion. The Yearbook committee are looking to all clubs to submit any obituaries of their deceased members in the last 12 months. The maximum number of words for an obituary is 150 and please include the club name and the years also, e.g. 1935-2014, as well as his/her G.A.A. achievements and a photograph of the deceased person. The deadline for sending information is 1st November . Please e-mail information and photographs which must be named to John Smith, Secretary Tipperary Yearbook Committee at yearbook.tipperary@gaa.ie. Dean Ryan Cup Under 16½ A Hurling Quarter-Finals
Thurles CBS defeated St Colmans College after extra –time by 1-20 to 2-15 and Our Lady’s Templemore had a big win over Rice College Ennis 5-26 to 1-9 in the quarter –finals of the Dean Ryan. Both of these teams will face each other in the semi- finals. In the 16.5 B Hurling Abbey CBS beat Cashel CS by 2-24 to 1-14.
