COUNTY FIXTURES
With the day shortening rapidly it signals also the closing in of our club championships and following last Sunday’s action it is now down to two in both the Clean Ireland Recycling Senior Hurling and Football Championships.
On the hurling front in Semple Stadium, Thurles Sarsfields were first to reach the final following their 2-20 to 1-17 defeat of Kilruane MacDonaghs and will meet Nenagh Éire Óg who eventually got the better of Drom & Inch in dramatic fashion by 1-20 to 2-16 after extra time.
Thurles Sarsfields therefore remain on track to win the Dan Breen Cup for the fifth time in seven seasons after edging out Kilruane MacDonaghs while a last gasp point by Daire Quinn propelled Nenagh Éire Óg in to the County Senior Hurling Final at the expense of Drom & Inch after 80 minutes of action. This point in second half injury time of extra time was the only thing which separated the sides which were remarkably level at half-time, the end of normal time and at half-time of extra time.

Over in Leahy Park, Cashel the football semi-finals also took place with Clonmel Commercials defeating Aherlow Gaels 0-9 to 0-5 while Moyle Rovers saw off the challenge of Arravale Rovers 2-15 to 1-14.
This Sunday therefore the main prize in Tipperary Club Football is down for decision as Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers meet in this year’s decider on Sunday next, October 18th in Semple Stadium at 4.30pm.
Commercials were County Champions last in 2012 with Fergal Condon their captain while Moyle Rovers were Champions last in 2009 and on this occasion Liam Cronin led them to victory. As both clubs gear up for battle on Sunday we wish them both well as the curtain comes down on senior football action within the county for this season.
In the Clean Ireland Recycling Intermediate Hurling Championship Clonakenny overcame Newport to reach the final while Ballinahinch meet Thurles Sarsfields in the other semi-final in Templederry this Saturday, October 17th at 3pm.
It is final day this Saturday, October 17th, in The Ragg in the Clean Ireland Recycling Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship as Roscrea take on Clonoulty-Rossmore at 3pm, best wishes to both clubs here too.
In Round 2 of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Football Relegation Ballyporeen defeated Moycarkey Borris.
In the Clean Ireland Recycling County Intermediate Football Championship Semi-Finals Upperchurch-Drombane made it to the final with victory over Mullinahone 3-12 to 0-4 where they will meet Clonmel Og who also progressed following their win over Holycross-Ballycahill on a score line of 0-14 to 0-7.
Golden Kilfeacle defeated Ballina 3-15 to 09 to reach the final of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Junior A Football Championship where they will meet the winners of Emly v Gortnahoe Glengoole who meet this Saturday, October 17th, in Golden at 3pm.

CLONMEL COMMERCIALS TEAMS TO BE HONOURED
County Tipperary G.A.A. Board in association with The Nationalist & the Park Hotel, Clonmel intend to honour the Clonmel Commercials senior football teams of 1982, 1986, 1989, 1990 at Semple Stadium in connection with the county senior football final next Sunday.
During a great period of the club’s history, Commercials teams won county senior championships in these years and were the leading football club in the county. The forty-nine players of these teams will be guests of the county board in the VIP section for the county final, introduced to the crowd on the field during the interval and will be entertained with a dinner in the Park Hotel, Clonmel afterwards. They will also be presented with a memento of the occasion.
MUNSTER UNDER 17 FOOTBALL
Tipperary won their second match this time against Waterford on Monday night last, October 12th by 3-15 to 2-6 and now look forward to another home tie next Monday, October 19th in Dr. Morris Park against Limerick at 7.30pm. DR. HARTY CUP
With the first round of the Dr. Harty Cup Under 18 ½ A Hurling competition getting under way this week we send best wishes on Wednesday October 14th, to a number of Tipperary Schools that get their campaigns up and running at 1.30pm. Holders Thurles CBS meet St Colmans Fermoy in Clonmel while in Claughan Our Lady’s Templemore take on Charleville CBS. Nenagh CBS meet Scoil Na Tríonóide Naofa Doon in Newport and High School Clonmel take on Christian Brothers College Cork in Clashmore. DEAN RYAN CUP HURLING
The Dean Ryan Cup Under 16 ½ A Hurling competition is nearly the closing stages with just five schools remaining. On Tuesday last in Leahy Park Cashel, Our Lady’s Templemore bowed out at the Quarter-Final stage, losing out to a strong De La Salle Waterford school by 4-12 to 0-14. A day later in Fermoy, holders Midleton CBS looking to win their third title in a row at this level played out an exciting encounter with Thurles CBS. The Tipperary side played well in the first half with wind assistance and led by 2-8 to 0-5 at the interval courtesy of goals from Gearoid Troy and Darren Flood. Midleton however had the better of the second half, forcing the game in to extra time where the Cork side proved the better side winning on a scoreline of Midleton CBS 0-25 Thurles CBS 2-13. The last Quarter-Final between the High School Clonmel and St. Flannans was postponed last week due to a bereavement and will now take place on this Friday October 16th at 1pm in Boher, County Limerick. If successful, the Clonmel School will play De La Salle Waterford in the semi-final with Midleton CBS playing Ard Scoil Ris in the other semi-final.

CAMOGIE
Congratulations to Burgess Duharra who defeated Drom & Inch 1-11 to 0-5 in winning the Tipperary Senior Camogie County Final.
LADIES FOOTBALL
Best wishes to three Tipperary clubs on reaching Munster Finals; first up Cappawhite who play Comeragh Rangers in the Munster Ladies Gaelic Club Championship Final next weekend. While in the Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Intermediate Club Championship Cahir progressed to play Fermoy in the final and in the Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Junior Club Championship Final Templemore meet Bantry Blues on Saturday next, October 17th, in Mallow at 2.00pm.
HANDBALL
There was mixed fortunes for Tipperary players in the Adult 60×30 Semi-Finals at the weekend while the weekend coming up will be a busy one for Tipperary Juveniles with Ballina & Lahorna hosting the Juvenile All-Ireland Semi-Finals versus Connaught, best of luck to all the juveniles.
COLIN O’RIORDAN
Best wishes to Colin O’Riordan, who turned twenty on Monday last, as he signed a two year deal with Sydney Swans as an International Category B rookie following his recent trial.
FÉILE NA nGAEL
Next year Tipperary along with Waterford will co-host the All-Ireland Féile tournaments. It is of course a great honour to be involved with such a prestigious event although a very onerous task. The late Tommy Barrett who was secretary of our Senior Board for over three decades was one of the founding members of this great tournament so we enjoy its proud history. As any event will be only be as successful as its preparation all in Coiste na nÓg will have a bit part to play with the National organisers which is under the chairmanship of Donal Shanahan, a former Chairman of the Tipperary Senior Board.
As Tipperary is joint host many of our clubs are encouraged to participate and to participate in the tournament a club has also to host a visiting club. There will be an important information night in The Dome, Thurles this Wednesday, October 14th, at 8pm, where it’s envisaged that two representatives from each club would attend and contribute to the smooth running of this prestigious event.
SCÓR
All club members young and old are urged yet again to take part in Scór activities as the Scór season starts up again. Scór is your opportunity to shine away from the hurling, football, camogie field and take to the stage for the winter months. Following a very successful year in 2015 it is envisaged that more clubs will consider taking part in the many competitions that are part of Scór.
The requirement to have more than one act has been abolished and clubs can now enter in one discipline whether it be Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Dancing (Set or Figure), Drama (Léiriú), Instrumental music, or Question Time.
Competitions will shortly be under way and dates will be posted on The Tipperary GAA website. If you are imaginative and have a flair for writing the Léiriú and the Recitation might be your forte. If you are not made for the stage you might consider being a mentor and helping with the training or giving your time to encourage participants and prepare them for the stage. This Thursday, October 15th in the Dome, Semple Stadium, former Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy will launch “Standing My Ground” – The Brendan Cummins Autobiography at 8pm and popular sports commentator Paul Collins will act as MC on the night. The book is co-written by Jackie Cahill, GAA writer and columnist.
