Fixture Planners
The National Fixtures Planning Committee has introduced a number of minimum requirements in an effort to improve the organisation and frequency of fixtures. Each Province and County now has two trained Fixture Planners who will work in conjunction with their Competition Control Committee on the production of an ongoing three-year Fixtures Plan and Schedule. As part of their ongoing work the Fixture Planners are currently conducting a survey of Club players, Club team managers, Club team officers, Competition Sponsors and Supporters and your co-operation in this regard is greatly appreciated. The following minimum standards have been set down by the National Fixtures Planning Committee. At adult level, in Counties where it is considered that one code is stronger than the other, the stronger code will get 16 games while the weaker code 8 games. In dual counties both codes should get 12 games, while between the ages of U14, U16 and U18 there should be 12 games at each individual age-group. During the months from April to September, games must be scheduled with gaps of no more than 21 days between them to maximise the number played during the summer months. However, an exception will be made annually to accommodate examinations to help facilitate second level and third level students.
All clubs in the Tipperary have been notified of a Club Fixtures Survey being conducted on the Tipperary GAA website. We are looking for your opinion on fixtures in the county & invite all interested parties to visit: https://tipperary.gaa.ie/tipperary-gaa-club-fixtures-survey/ to complete this short survey. Survey closed on November 16th & results will be released over the following weeks.

GAA National Referees’ Awards Banquet 2014
The GAA National Referees’ Awards banquet took place at Croke Park recently, with a number of referees honoured for their services to Gaelic Games. ‘Captains of the Premier Ship’
The television drama Love/ Hate may have captured the attention of the country last Sunday week but last Saturday night in St Patricks College the launching of Noel Dundon’s book ‘Captains of the Premier Ship’ captured the attention of the county and beyond as there was a massive attendance at the launch. This was Noel’s first venture into writing a book with ‘Captains of the Premier Ship’. The book is a 320 page history of the twenty one All-Ireland winning senior hurling captains from the county, the book is a record of the twenty six All-Ireland titles captured and the men who led Tipperary to them. The book was launched by Tipperary hurling legend Nicky English and all of the captains who are still alive were present at the launch and there were family representatives from all of the deceased captains at the launch as well. Donal Ryan Secretary of Holycross / Ballycahill GAA Club did a wonderful job of MC on the night. Congratulations to Noel on his book which is a brilliant publication and which is sure to be a big seller in the coming weeks for GAA people within the county and beyond and indeed overseas and is an ideal gift for GAA followers for Christmas. All proceeds from the book will go to AWARE which is doing such great work in supporting anyone suffering from depression. Well done Noel, looking forward already to your next book.

Irish International Rules
The Irish International Rules team departed Ireland for Australia last Wednesday ahead of the International Rules Test against the Australians in Perth on Saturday. Paul Earley’s Ireland squad, along their backroom team, are based in Melbourne ahead of the one-off Test at Patterson’s Stadium on November 22. Ireland won the 2011 and 2013 installments of the competition comprehensively, winning each of the four Tests played in that time, but Australia have named a star-studded squad for this year’s one-off Test and are intent on winning back the trophy. Best of luck to the Irish team and to Tipperary footballer Ciaran McDonald who is part of the squad.

Job Opportunities
I was delighted to receive correspondence this week from McCloskey International who are growing at the moment and are looking at taking on at least 5 additional engineers. They requested that I advise GAA players in the county of their recruitment plans. Anyone interested should contact Siobhan, HR@sdeery@mccloskeyinternational.com. Best of luck to all applicants.

Sympathy
It is with profound sadness that I heard last week of the passing of John Moloughney, Clonakenny GAA and Mid Board Vice Chairman. John was a lovely man and a real gentlemen and was a pleasure to work with on the Mid Board. Any request or favour asked John was only delighted to oblige if he could. John had been Chairman of the Clonakenny GAA Club for the past 27 years and Vice Chairman of the Mid Tipperary GAA Board since December 2011 and was due to be elected to the position of Mid Board Chairman next month. Prior to being elected as Mid Board Vice Chairman, John had served as Referees Coordinator in the Division for over a decade. John was also well known as the man behind the camera at GAA matches and events throughout the Division for many years. On behalf of the County Board and on my own behalf as a colleague of John’s on the Mid Board for a number of years I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to his wife Bernie, Daughter Gemma and Son William.
