Munster Senior Hurling Championship

Our Senior Hurlers concluded their championship campaign with a home game against Clare last Sunday afternoon in FBD Semple Stadium. With previous results not having gone their way, the players and team management were hoping for a positive display and to their credit, they certainly performed well and continued to hurl right through the game. In the end it was Clare who were victorious on a full time score of 1-24 to 0-24. We thank the entire panel of players along with the team management and backroom for their commitment over the past 7 months and while results may not have gone their way, nobody can question the commitment shown. I am sure that the players may take a small break before returning to their clubs for the upcoming club championships.

Scorers for Tipperary: Jake Morris 0-11 (7fs), Seanie Kenneally 0-3, Ronan Maher 0-2 (1f), Eoghan Connolly and Gearoid O’Connor (2fs) 0-2 each, Barry Heffernan, Alan Tynan, Noel McGrath, and Bryan O’Mara 0-1 each.

2024 Tailteann Cup

Tipperary will play the final group game in the Tailteann Cup this Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm in Netwatch Cullen Park where they will face the challenge of Wexford. Having already been heavily defeated by their opponents in the Allianz League earlier this year, Tipperary will be hoping to turn the tables on Saturday and claim a badly needed victory after what has been a disappointing season to date.

All Ireland Minor Football Championship Tier 3 Quarter Final

Our Minor Footballers season came to an end last Saturday afternoon when they suffered a heavy defeat to Westmeath in the All Ireland Tier 3 Quarter Final which was played in Templetuohy. Tipperary played well in the first half, but Westmeath turned on the style in the second half to run out 3-19 to 0-10 winners. Again we thank players and management for their efforts during the year and while Saturday’s result may not have been what they hoped for, the players have had a good championship and played some very good football throughout.

Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship

Our under 20 Hurlers travelled to the TUS Gaelic Grounds last Friday evening where they played Cork in the Munster final. In what was an excellent game of hurling Tipperary emerged victorious on a full time score of 1-19 to 0-21. We now face Offaly in this years All Ireland under 20 hurling final this coming Saturday evening in UPMC Nowlan Park at 7.15pm. There is going to be a sellout attendance at the game, so we encourage supporters travelling to the game to go early and avoid delays.

Scorers for Tipperary: Darragh McCarthy 0-10 (6f, 1 65); Oisín O’Donoghue 1-2; Sam O’Farrell, Ciarán Foley 0-3 each; Senan Butler 0-1.
