TIPPERARY GAA SCENE

LOUGHMORE CASTLEINEY V DR. CROKES
Good luck to Loughmore Castleiney for their AIB Munster Club semi-final against Dr. Crokes of Killarney at Dr. Crokes GAA Grounds, Killarney at 2.30pm on Saturday next, November 16. The game will be refereed by Michael Collins of Cork. Dr. Crokes are defending Munster champions and the winner of Saturday’s semi-final will play the winner of the game between Ballinacourty of Waterford and Doonbeg or Cratloe of Clare which will be played at a Clare venue on Sunday, November 17. That game will be refereed by Derek O’Mahoney of Ardfinnan, who recently refereed the Tipperary senior football final.

BALLINA IN AIB MUNSTER CLUB IH FINAL
We extend best wishes to Ballina for their AIB Munster Intermediate Club hurling final against Youghal of Cork at Mallow on Sunday, November 17 at 2pm with Shane Hourigan of Limerick in charge of the whistle. Ballina will be seeking to retain the title in Tipperary in succession to last year’s winners, Silvermines.

AIB MUNSTER CLUB INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Following their comfortable quarter final replay victory by 3-8 to 1-3 over De La Salle of Waterford last weekend, Ballyporeen will play Clyda Rovers of Cork in the AIB Munster Intermediate Club football semi-final at Clonmel Sportsgrounds on Sunday next, November 17 at 2pm. We wish them all the best for this game which will be refereed by Sean Joy of Kerry,

AIB MUNSTER CLUB JUNIOR A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tipperary Camogie Grounds at The Ragg will be the novel venue for the AIB Munster Club Junior A football quarter-final between Drom and Inch and Feohanagh / Castlemahon of Limerick at 2pm on Saturday November 16. Best wishes to the Drom and Inch team for this game. Kevin Murphy of Cork will be the referee and the winner will play Coolmeen of Clare in the semi-final.

TIPPERARY REFEREES IN MUNSTER ACTION
In addition to Derek O’Mahoney refereeing the club football semi-final, there are a number of other Tipperary referees on Munster Club duty this weekend. Johnny Ryan (Boherlahan Dualla) will be in charge of the senior hurling semi-final between Sixmilebridge of Clare and Midleton of Cork at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday, November 17 at 2pm. John O’Brien (Arravale Rovers) will referee the junior hurling semi-final between Bodyke of Clare and Feenagh / Kilmeedy of Limerick at Sixmilebridge on Sunday at 2pm while at the same time David Grogan of Aherlow will referee the junior football quarter-final between Mitchelstown of Cork and Keel of Kerry at Fermoy. Finally, Anthony Sherlock (Kildangan) will referee the junior hurling quarter-final between Ballysaggart (Waterford) and Grenagh (Cork) on Sunday at 2pm in Fraher Field Dungarvan.

CLEAN IRELAND RECYCLING JUNIOR B HURLING FINAL
The Clean Ireland Recycling Junior B hurling final between Holycross Ballycahill and Templederry Kenyons will be played at The Ragg at 2pm on Saturday November 16. Holycross-Ballycahill are seeking their first county title at this grade while Templederry Kenyons are looking to win their third, having won previously in 1996 and 2009. They will also be aiming to join Toomevara on top of the roll of honour with 3 titles in the Junior B grade which was incepted in 1993.

SEAN GAEL PRESENTATION
Micheal Ó Muircheartaigh will present the Sean Gael awards at the Dome, Semple Stadium on Sunday next , November 17. The thirty-two recipients, who are all over 70 years of age, will be recognised for their lifetime of service to the GAA. The event will commence with a reception at 3.30 pm and the presentations will take place an hour later. All the recipients have received their invitations and complimentary tickets. Additional tickets at €10 each are available from the GAA Office, Lár na Páirce (0504 22702) for any family or club members who would like to be present on the day. We wish all the deserving recipients an enjoyable day.

TALKING THROUGH THE STRESS
The South Tipperary GAA board is supporting an information evening in the Minella Hotel Clonmel on Monday night next, November 18 at 7pm organised by Clonmel Suicide Awareness Workers (CSAW) The theme for the evening is “talking through the stress” . The speakers on the night are Paul Kelly CONSOLE; Stephen Pearce, Potter and Author of ” Warrior Spirit”; Stephen Griffin, Area President of The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul; and former Tipperary hurler and now addiction counsellor, John Leahy. The evening will be chaired by Joe Leahy. This is a free admission event and all are welcome.

PIETA HOUSE ” MIND YOUR BUDDY”
Pieta House in conjunction with Tipperary GAA have organised two information nights to introduce and explain this programme initiative. The dates available for people to attend are: 1) November 20 from 7.15pm to 8.15pm at The McAuley Community Centre, Templemore and 2) November 21st from 7.15pm to 8.15pm at The Moycarkey Community Centre. The meetings will inform attendees about the “Mind your Buddy” programme designed to assist suicide prevention. The programme is free and is offered to all Tipperary GAA Clubs. The purpose of this introduction night is to highlight the importance of the “Mind your Buddy” concept and to identify the importance and need for training of members within clubs. A training course will follow on November 30 with a duration of 3 to 4 hours. Please contact Seamus Delaney on 087 6396698 for further details.

NEW REFEREES
Application forms to be used by new applicants intending to undergo the Referees Course in 2014 have been circulated to all clubs. Forms completed and signed by the applicant and club secretary must be returned to the County Secretary before November 30.

SYMPATHY
Tipperary County Board extends its sympathy to the Horgan family, Knockavilla on the death of their mother, Breda. Her son, Brian, was a Tipperary minor hurling selector in 2012 and 13 and captained the Tipperary under 21 hurling team to All Ireland victory in 1995. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam dilis.
